Re: Post Mortem: UO (Original Game Devs video/pp discussion)
Selective memory is a wonderful thing. These guys are just as fail today as they were back then.

Re: I know I shouldn't ask, but...
You are trying to make a joke, but killing someone once should not cause you grief. One of the biggest draws to this game is the danger. There is just about no place that you can be absolutely sure that you are safe from any harm. Griefing in the online game sense would be to kill someone over and ...

Re: I know I shouldn't ask, but...
Are you trying to imply that this has anything to do with you not educating yourself on how to be safe while macroing? Take some responsibility for your own actions and LACK of knowledge. Better yet, ask people to explain to you how to protect yourself. I'll be the first to agree that the LoS needs...

This post is hilarious.. Killiing afk people with not loot is definitely griefing.. no benefit really right? The fact that he posted here proves it worked. Whoever made him rage just won uo. I'm not at all raging and although I have had toons killed while afk macroing for skill gain, this post wasn...

So you didn't macro to raise any of your skills? All of your skill points come from actual live game play?Light Shade wrote:Actually play the game, instead of macroing. Problem solved.

So, causing grief to others is not griefing?MatronDeWinter wrote:I don't think you guys understand what "griefing" is. Killing you (afk or not) is NOT griefing.

Re: Bloody Ethics: It's not a game, it's a world
Because MMORPGs are primarily businesses and because this method of game-making has proven to be successful, we will continue to see it. No company wants to be the one that makes the best game - they want to be the one that makes the best-selling game. Which, like any other company on-or-offline, m...

Re: Bloody Ethics: It's not a game, it's a world
I don't know about all that, Eveee. The fact that we're still playing (or even discussing) this game 15 years later is proof enough that it's not a normal game, but more of a world. There are people playing games that are thousands of years old. There is even an mmorpg that predates UO people are s...

Re: Bloody Ethics: It's not a game, it's a world
That is actually an amusing article. It manages to miss the point on so many things. I especially love the prediction of the virtual world we should be living in by now. :) UO, in its original concept of designing a world that would be run by the inhabitants while living fantasy lives, was a failure...

what is it you griefers get out of being douche bags to others? I'm not talking about people who want to engage in PvP because, let's face it, I know of no game with npcs that are challenging and it is perfectly understandeable to want a challenge. I even understand why some go around murdering for ...

Re: Monsters donkeys!
It could be worse, the mobs at the time frame this server emulates were way ahead of what they were at the start of T2A in terms of AI and especially path finding.

Balron spawn rate in Terath keep
Do the Balrons in Terath normally take several minutes to respawn or was I just having a run of bad luck? My memory of them from T2A was a very fast respawn rate. At most maybe a minute or so, not 5 minutes or more.
