I would go with Budner's skill suggestion. I started out as a lumberjack/bowcrafter/archer/healer but the skill cap didn't allow for a combination of resist and hiding. You can chop trees while on a mount unless you just want to appear to be an easy target who isn't on a mount.

You can do spears all the way to 100. It's slower but takes much fewer ingots if you have a gm miner to smelt them since weapons seem to return more ingots than armor. Items don't have to be in a backpack to smelt so you can set up simple organize macros to dump the spears into 3 or 4 bags. Just be ...
