As far as the ghosting, it's really the same answer unfortunately. Many heads have been beat against the wall on this, but in the end it's an accurate mechanic. Center of hedgemaze spawns daemons, and sometimes a Balron if you run to the top of the tower. Probably not a great spot for a newer char to be hunting. In all honesty if you are looking for areas where there is little to no risk of pks your best bet is to run around the woods and kill random spawn....

You need exactly 0 cartography to decode a level 1 map. True, but it takes a looong time. I actually bought the skill to 30, and have brought it to 40 doing nothing but decoding level 1 tmaps. Here is a crazy idea.....it's close enough to land you could build a bridge of boats!!!! Why hasn't anybody though of this before??? A rune library on an lsland and a boat bridge to the island!!! There might be a lot of traffic on the bridge though so you may have to deal with ppl hitting animals......
