Re: Knowing a thief is in the thieves guild = attackable in

Forensics would tell you if they were in the Thieves' guild, but I don't think it made them grey to you. If that had been the case, I imagine every griefer on OSI would have a townie with the skill just to go around killing random thieves when they were bored. There would probably be scores of old &...

Re: Suggestion to get uosa votes up.

I've been playing T2A-style shards for longer than this place has existed, but I found it through pure dumb luck, because other, lesser ones were milking the vote systems on the top 100 sites, or stealing the top spots on Google results. The more people we bring in, the more it will be like the real...

Re: Knowing a thief is in the thieves guild = attackable in

The only thing I'm sure of is when a thief steals something, he is permagrey to all until he dies. The thief will only show up grey to the person he stole from, or those who saw him steal, but any blue who attacks him will not be guard whacked, whether he was showing blue to them or not at the time....

Re: GM hally hits (without anat) hit too hard

It might be that way in the demo, but I've heard otherwise for retail from UO Powergamers. Stratics does list it as a +4, so no idea which is right. Patch notes from pub 17 say they changed magic weapons to % based bonuses in AoS, but the way it's worded, I'm not sure if they changed normal exceptio...

Re: Change isnt always a bad thing..

Yeah, being one of those new players, I would certainly do an about face, and bitch to high heaven if it suddenly became against the rules. It just reminds me of why I quit OSI in the first place. GM'ing things like smithing and taming were almost like a badge to tell people you were insane and unem...

Re: Are Skill/Stat Toggles/Locks T2A Accurate?

Yeah, but if you need to train skills, having them locked doesn't work very well. No one is arguing your point, or at least I'm not. Anyone who seesawed stats back on OSI knows how it works. Simple fact is that now the client makes it unnecessary to do that once you've reached your goal. Removing th...

Re: GM hally hits (without anat) hit too hard

let's all get real. where's the proof? the proof is that we all remember GM hallies didn't hit this hard without anatomy. and the fact that they're often hitting harder than my power and vanq hallies. will this ever get fixed? this makes it so macers and fencers can't compete-- and they did in this...

Re: Change isnt always a bad thing..

The problem with nostalgia is that it wears off, which is the main reasons shards like this have trouble keeping players for extended periods. When nothing changes and you essentially "win the game", you get bored. That's why I wish UOSA didn't allow UA macroing. It turns the game into Ma...

Re: Are Skill/Stat Toggles/Locks T2A Accurate?

My apologies in advance to the people who fail a PK attempt by 1hp, or die because the person they fought had 1 extra mana, or swung 1 frame faster then they really should have, due to this game breaking trammie garbage feature. </sarcasm> Anyway, in all seriousness, this wasn't era accurate, but wa...

Re: Monsters using weapons, and Blacksmithing issues

Yeah, I was just using Rat Archers as an example. I can't think of any monsters in T2A aside from Orc Lords that actually use the weapon they appear to be carrying, unless you count red NPC's. Anyway, I found this chart on Stratics. Don't think it's changed since 1997, aside from the mention of repa...

Monsters using weapons, and Blacksmithing issues

One thing I've noticed that I don't remember from T2A, or even UO:R is monsters actually using the weapons they carry. The different sprites from varieties of the same monster on OSI shards never affected the damage they do, but I seem to take a hell of a lot more damage from monsters with weapons, ...

Re: Great Lakes 1998 - 2002

Yeah, I just found this place the other day. Eve Online is about as close as it gets in terms of commercial MMO's nowadays, but it still doesn't fill the hole. I used to be Haral Luhhan and Samitsu on GL from around late 99 to late 01, till a friend of mine named Josh hacked another friend's compute...
