Stealing messed up today...

Post by XaN »

Twice now i've had people steal from me in town and when I go to attack (they should be perma grey) I get guard whacked. Anyone else have this problem?

Exactly how long after the theft did you attempt to attack them? A common practice on OSI was to remove your perma-grey status if you did not want to deal with your victim attacking you. If that is being practiced here, then it is understandable that you might be getting what seems like an error.

Another common mistake is attacking the wrong character with the same name.

This should be in Bug Reports if you feel there is a bug though.

The guy I attacked was beside me the whole time, from the moment he stole the item(s) until I attacked he never left my sight. When I tried to attack I messed up the double click and instead his name came up twice. The first name was grey and then the second click showed blue. I attack and wham... all I can say is exploit.

No, I do not remember this examples name.

This very much sounds like the case. Thief tactics like this in Britain are not uncommon at all.

I recommend turning on query before criminal action.

Theres a guy that changes his text to grey, and has a macro to say his name.

He could be running up to you, waiting a second or two, and hitting his macro.

Maybe when your char was a thief and perma grey but still blue to everyone else. That happened to me.

My thief was perm.. another thief (not perm) stole from me and i attacked -> died instantly. Dont know if this is considered to work this way.

But this would only make any sense when your char was a thief also.

I suppose it is possible that he had 2 thieves with the same name and after stealing just hid... but doesn't he have to wait 10 seconds before he can use another skill after stealing the item? I attacked as soon as I knew the item was stolen but not right away because of the messed up first attempt. That gave him time to walk away a bit, and there was no one standing on the spot he was on.

You can wait 10 seconds with the stealing target up, and when you target you will be able to hide right away.

Sort of like fast casting but with skill timers.

Easiest way to avoid this is try to steal from the "thief" if it lets u attempt they are indeed perma grey and attackable. If not it will give you a msg telling you youre not allowed or some jazz like that.

That's bloody brilliant!!! It amazes me the lengths some of these people will go....but very clever.
