No, because the system is a hodgepodge of best-guesses and assumptions gathered from disparate sources. The result is a pvp system that has been thrown together over time, willy nilly, with the best intentions, but with altogether too much hubris (This time we're 100% accurate, I swear.) It is a rough approximation of era mechanics, but I am finding it increasingly joyless to play.

This is no doubt why virtually every good player that has ever played here has left =(.

I must agree with Duke, Razor macro's do change the era consistency and at time it does seem like macro vs macro, Im not complaining though Derrick does a great job and I love the shard.

All the pvp patches I've witnessed have actually been improvements from the past ones, they had it mostly right, such as interrupts not being called twice.

PVP here may not be appealing to many, however everyone keeps saying it isn't accurate without bringing any sort of direct statement or source to the table.

IMO the mount fatigue actually sounds fun, you have a chance to attack/poison someone's horse hopefully during the time they have to say "all follow me". I'm going to assume that there is an action delay on mounting and dismounting?

I doubt this is true even in the sense you intended it, but also I don't know of any good players offhand, aside from Coffee*, that have left (permanently) recently. And even Coffee's departure was a while ago. Being a OMGLEETPVPER is not the end all, be all of this game. I have never taken up PvP here, and I'd wager I have far more fun than 95% of the playerbase. Most of the good players are not primarily pvpers. Indeed, I can't think of one OMGLEETPVPER who I think of as a real addition to the shard. (Of course, lots of people who are good players also pvp but that isn't my point.)

I do know, however, that 90% of the complaints about the shard come from the OMGPVPMATRONSTEALOURKEEP crowd. This isn't a shard dedicated to the proposition that PVP must be LEET. It is an era accurate shard. I know we thieves/bastards have taken a huge number of hits due to patches (easier to take murder counts, deeds not stealable, no stuck-ing out of houses, purple pots no longer set each other off (that one really makes me wistful for bank killing), etc), but, ultimately, (and this is something it took me a while to see) the shard isn't about tweaking and optimizing and making any particular play style as entertaining as it could be, it is about era accuracy and getting things back to the way they were. And that is a good thing.

A few of the comments from the LEETPVP brigade often have this flavor as well: THIS ISN'T REALLY ACCURATE CAUSE I REMEMBER AND IF IT WERE U WOULDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE IT. No one said it would be easy. No one said there would never be mistakes or changes. Derrick, Maahes and the gang deserve big accolades for how close they have come to era accuracy already. I honestly wouldn't have thought it possible.

So, in sum, go back to LEETPVPONEVONENOPOTSCAUSETHATAINTLEETPVP, but don't think anyone owes you anything.

* Also, Hemperor, who was a LEETPVPer but also the shard's primary source of entertainment, which is what made him a legend. (WHY THE HELL IS HE NOT IN THE MUSEUM?)

chum, pvp is part of the game. and a huge reason ppl play, acting like an idiot because you dont care about pvp is just retarded. stop making useless posts about nonsense.

i voted no, simply because mini-heal is too high. u can get a max damage explo, max damage hally hit, and start casting an ebolt while the target just miniheals through it back up to ~80%. making the entire dump almost worthless.

How is Razor and different from UOAssist?

What does Razor allow players to do in PvP that UOAssist didn't?

When everyone has 100 strength, besides it being accurate mini-heal recovering more then 5 points of damage makes alot of sense. Sorry you blame all your losses on mini heal spams.

yea, losses, nice cover...
and i never said more than 5 points of heal is wrong. but the amount healed for the quickness of the spell seems off. if u pvp's you might understand why. in fact, this was changed early on in the shard because even derrick saw that miniheal was overpowered. i guess they found evidence to the contrary.

he asked if i enjoyed the pvp mechanics, i dont, and explained why. get a grip...

and chum, yea i can read. all your posts about people who pvp are the same: "OMGPVPLEETLEETPVPUSUCK" just more and more babble about nothing. keep it up though, you're so intelligent.

So you meant to say your answer is 'no'?

Let me put everything as plainly as I can.

The entire point of this thread is to mount a passive aggressive attack on the shard and those who run it. Such behavior is characteristic of those whose primary play style is organized and semi-organized player versus player combat. Such players should be aware that they are not the reason for the shard's existence and, indeed, they are not even the most substantial contributor to the shard's success (that title goes to Blackfoot and his ilk). Undoubtedly, organized and semi-organized player versus player combat is a major part of the shard and I support the existence of such activities even though I personally find them formulaic and boring, but, despite this value, participants in these activities should feel nothing is especially due to them and so shouldn't make threads of this sort. Of special note is the tendency of these players to not only passive aggressively complain about the policy of era accuracy, but to do so by implying that they "really, really do support" said policy when it is competently administered but, alas, it is not as can be seen by the fact that their chosen play style is not as they would prefer it to be.

Also noteworthy: WTFOMGLEETPVPLOLURGAY.

When did disrupts ever "not work" in the history of Ultima Online production shards again?

Are you talking about the time before disrupts and casting delays were implemented before early '98?

A lot. Such as very complex macros.

And also setting very complex macros to hotkeys.

The pvp community on this server is full of whining babies.

Most of whom sit around dueling, talking about dueling, deciding who is a better dueler, talking about getting a duel pit, or attempting to take away from the player base on the regular server to duel on the test server.

OR/AND

Bitching on the forums about how bad pvp is, deciding amongst their ranks who is a poor pvper or not, staging protests and strikes in an attempt to create some kind of lame pvper allegiance.

I think the guilds who contribute to the pvp on this server have made it an enjoyable time for my guild (TG) and we thank you for that.

But people need to understand that this server wasn't created to suit the needs of the pvp community.

I vote yes, I think it's great here.

There are two types of people that complain and whine about PVP.

1. People that expect the pvp to follow the same traditional generic RunUO default style that they have been used to for the past few years from shards like IPY, DFI, and Div.

2. People that didn't play or wasn't very good at all during the t2a era expecting you to develop the shard according to what they think is good or bad.

Nothing more.

I do feel most people can't actually remember how it used to be. I know I can't. We're talking like 10-12 years here guys. Think about how many other servers you've played on in that time that span multiple eras, or are a mix and match of a few.

There really are just a few T2A era shards left out there. This is one of two that I can think of that I would even bother looking into. Out of those two, this one is the more professional and accurate.

Yeah, you may have been playing T2A servers for years and have grown accustomed to a certain style of play, but you chose UOSA for a reason.

Love it or hate it, this shard is T2A.
