Re: UOSA Donation Discussion and Idea for Change
How about, go place a bunch of small houses and give them away to people who donate.
That's legit isn't it?
You could even go as far as giving away items to people who donate.
What if a few players of UOSA got together and made a item/house pool for those interested in donating. It has nothing to do with staff, rich players can easily afford it, and everybody wins.
Seems like a sound idea...

Yeah, I could name a few players who could give me their castles and I'll donate heavily in their name.
LOL, same problem, different means.
No benefit in game for real money, at all, ever.
Donate because UOSA worth it to you, not because you can get stuff for it.

I was thinking something more along the lines of.... vet player pools up a bunch of nice power weps that he doesn't need, and gives it to a new donator.
Or gives away a small placed house.

Yeah, I totally get the idea, but it's a floodgate for nefarious activity.
There's no skimming the surface on the topic. However much I applaud the thought and flow of ideas, it's just not going to work safely, or happen according to the tenets of the shard itself.

The money goes to Derrick to help pay for server costs. He is not profiting from this.Vilenarios wrote:Aside from helping the staff pay for server/network costs, what do the donations go to? How would it help bringing new players to the shard? Or would it just go to the staff as payment for spending time doing updates/helping players/etc?
In regards to paying staff with donation money (as someone mentioned), I would respectfully decline.

Well how about that custom color implementation for monthly subscribers?? I think that would help a little bit and make for a colorful forum =)

OR....
Rich players get together and throw a Donator/subscriber party in game! Events, raffle prizes, maybe some temporary GM deco to spice it up.

I, for one, Have quit my job rashly and would gladly accept all your money to get my credit back on track. Thank you in advance.Braden wrote:The money goes to Derrick to help pay for server costs. That is because when you give someone large amounts of wealth they stop playing.

Re: UOSA Donation Discussion and Idea for Change
Could raffle off a castle: Assign each donator for the month a number from 1 to X, where X is the.number of donators. Use a random number generator in IRC to select the winner.
On the other hand, staff seems to be saying UOSA is doing fine on the.current model.

Re: UOSA Donation Discussion and Idea for Change
Props for brainstorming, but no. No items for money is one of the things that sets UOSA apart from the other tacky shards out there.

500$ donation should get one of the staff to come visit you with a old retro super nintendo and some co op games.
