Post Mortem: UO (Original Game Devs video/pp discussion)

came across this reallly good video from a few of the original game developers discussing everything from how stealing originally worked on theives, house looting by stacking shovels, what is meant by "siege of trinsic" with the patch note: axes now destroy wooden objects, to the "first" business (pimping) in UO and little facts like the average UO player commits 2.5 player kills with the record being ~3000. Definitely worth watching for every die hard UO fan here and those wanting to learn about how it shaped the MMO universe forever after. Especially if you missed out on pre-t2a aspects you will like to hear the stories and commentary.

This is awesome. Watching it right now.

Very nice. Hadn't seen this before.

Extremely interesting to watch. Somehow I expected Raph to act the way that he did. As a person who regularly reached out to the community above and beyond what any current day developers do, it's no surprise that he played the role of the comedian during that presentation.

Amazing video!
Hearing about the developers stories and how they were playing as GMs was really cool. Loved to hear about their working conditions too, amazing... LOL @ garriot not turning on his invulnerability, I never knew that death was totally due to him screwing up. haha!

Wow! I first clicked that link and thought "Man, I love UO, I loved the early days, but damned if I will be able to listen to 3 dudes talk for over an hour." And then, bam! it was an hour later and I was like "Don't be over yet!"

Yeah super cool, good ol' days... When I got UO in early 1998 I was positively astounded, nothing like it before, nothing quite like it since.
Though I had weird thoughts last couple of days to try OSI UO again, just to see wtf is going on. Wish they'd have a returning veterans thing again so I could log on with my old account and see whats in my bank and shit, of course almost everything went the Brit X-Roads 18x18 I had on Napa.

I love at the end where he talks about how one guy selling uo rares on ebay grew to become the modern day cash shop.

Selective memory is a wonderful thing. These guys are just as fail today as they were back then.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. If by fail you mean pioneers then yes.
