The patch note on starting equipment for tinkerers reminded me of another little inconsistency I have been thinking about lately. If you start out as mage and resist 50/50 it seems to me that you get far more regs than you ever did back in the old days. I don't know if its just the fact that it creates 2 seperate piles for each individual reg, or you actually got less then, but something is amiss. You also get double the scrolls. Clearly in UOSA the starting equip for magery and resist is the same, but I don't feel like it was in t2a.

I sent Derrick the link to the old stratics web site for all the starting equipment to compare the differences. Thanks, for pointing that out Senses that has been in the back of my mind too.

Aye, this is the list, was just reviewing it:
http://web.archive.org/web/200003080614 ... skills.htm

The magery scrolls and regs are a little heavy and apparently shouldn't be random.
The "expansion" to the tinkers equipment is an expansion of the range of items he might receive.
Most of the linked list is dead on. I'll make the indicated changes. Thanks!

Modification to the implementation of the recovery delay after spellcasting.
The delay applies after full spell completion (or targeting)
The delay can be overridden by holding the target.
There is no delay on spell cancelation.

If you cast a spell and immediately target, there is a delay after you target before you can cast another spell.

If you cast a spell, and equip a weapon to cancel it before the target, there is no delay to recast.

If you Cast a spell, allow the cursor to come up, but do not target for a second (or whatever), then when you target, you can immediately cast again, much like the double-stealing technique where the targeting cursor waiting.

So the delay starts counting only when the cursor comes up, and if you wait out the delay with the cursor up, you can target and cast again, as if there was no delay.

There is also different outcomes to the above scenarios if you are disrupted (I think it causes the delay to increase more than it would be normally), for instance.

If two people cast Corp por at the exact same time, one gets the cursor, the other gets disrupted, and the guy with the cursor cancels it (escape button) at the exact same time the other guy gets disrupted. The guy who canceled will have a shorter delay before he can cast again compared to the guy who was disrupted. This causes a slight pause, so if you disrupt someones Greater Heal for instance, they cant immediately cast it again. It gives the one doing the disrupting a shorter wait to cast. But I am not sure if this change has been implimented too, as the notes are unclear to me regarding it.

The recast delay previously came up after every casting sequence finished. This was not the way that it worked on OSI servers. The delay now occurs when the spell truly has been casted meaning targeted/auto targeted, etc... If it's a targeted spell it occurs when the target is used, and if it's a non-targeting spell it occurs when the spell effect processes resulting in either a spell effect or fizze. The way to bypass this delay was to wait an entire maximum spell length that exists that being an eighth circle spell delay. In other words fast/speed casting as been corrected.

I haven't had a chance to PVP with it yet. I'm actually kind of dreading it from the word of mouth that I have heard about it.

i just did and gave up after 2 minutes of it. it was the shittest time of my life. yay, lets prep FS, use katana and spamm Attack last.. only way to kill somone.. if he casts 1 mini heal he is fucked.. 2 second delay until he can cast G heal lawl.

After the massive fights UOSA has had in the past 3 weeks, i can see that going away very quickly with this in effect. We enjoy fast pasted skilled pvp.. not slow bullshit with no end.

I'd like to have posts in this thread be constructive and clean. The discussion on these changes exist elsewhere in forums as well and this was also available for testing prior to implementation. I do want to hear feedback, I'm just asking that outrage be moderated somewhat. Part of the process of making changes such as this is forums discussion and testing. Please don't be shocked when these changes go live if you've not participated in the process leading up to them.

I can understand the concern, but if its era accurate, then when you played back in the day, it was the same way no?
