...a chilling winter in Sosaria

Post by Segellion »

It's cold outside, the snow is ankle deep in the city of Britain, but at the Crossroads Tavern things are lively and everyone seems to be celebrating the seasonal spirit. Ale is poured by the pint, song and dance disturb the frigid neighborhood and the hearth as warm as life. With all the rowdiness nobody could really hear an unwanted visitor at the door, until the drunken party was disturbed by a disgusting odour-revolting and sharp, like maggots feeding on horsehair soaked in putrid brine-twas the smell of death.

A pounding sound came from the door, as it slammed open letting the snow and crisp winter air inside, the wind abruptly blowing out some candles-darkness had entered. In walked decayed corpses, slow and peacefully. A nobleman reached for his sword thinking of it as any zombie or undead monster until it spoke..

"Minddz if we joinz you?" the walking corpse muttered... as the rest of the crew chuckled.

"Monsters are not welcome in this tavern!" the noble shouted

and just as the noble leaped forth to attack the monsters a group of cloaked individuals walked in,

"lower your sword, we are no harm to you.." a womens voice spoke

Three cloaked figures entered the tavern following the walking dead, their faces were hardly visible under there large hoods. One seemed more feeble and old then the others and he hardly stood up straight.

"We are the Cult of Infernal Necromancy," The woman spoke out,

Just then shouting and angry words projected out from the tavern crowd, obviously suggested that the newcomers find company elsewhere. The noise was intolerable, ale spilt, music seized and the tavern stank of death.

"Silence.." another cloaked figure spoke

The figure in the middle receded his hood just to make his face visible. The man looked older then time, his face was worn like leather-wrinkled and pale. His eye sockets were crested into his skull as flabby skin sagged from them, one could not lay upon his eyes for they were draped in darkness.

The tavern became quiet as the frailty of the man came into view, and his voice echoed throughout the buildings walls.

"I am Segellion, we are... new to these places.. we hope to... peacefully join this community.." the man smiled darkly

"Get rid of those stinken zombies old man!" the noble screamed out

"We will leave shortly... but I believe it is prudent that we.... get to know our neighbours"

The noble seemed impatient and brashly took a swipe at the aged man.

"You are not welcome here!" as the noble leaped forward, Segellion waved his hand and whispered unheard words and before the eyes of the tavern people the noble's sword began to rust, withered and turned to dust-only moments before it would have struck Segellion.

"You see my young friend... everything has a time limit... everything dies... our studies have proven this, and we can be great allies to you." Segellion spoke with a grin on his face

The noble seemed shocked at the loss of his sword and the entire tavern remain speechless

"If you wish to learn these arts.... join us.. sword, spear or magic weaver.. you are all welcome within the doors of the cult"

And just as mysterious as they entered, they turned to leave. Yet Segellion and the Woman stayed in their place.

"I wish you all.... a pleasant evening.. in death lies truth my friends..." Segellion spoke as he turned to the door with his grin clearly visible

before leaving the woman stopped and put her hand on the wall near the entryway. Smoke arose from it, she pulled away leaving a charred symbol on the oak wall. A pentagram-of sorts.

"If you wish to join us, simply speak to this symbol and you will find one of our agents shall contact you momentarily. Good Evening to you all."

And like that, they had left.

The tavern party was quiet, one could almost hear a pin drop. But shortly after it broke into awkward conversation.. that was the end of partying for one night..

Do not be mistaken, this is not a false identity or a "cloning" of accounts. Should you doubt that, please take a moment to google the Cult of Infernal Necromancy and you will see a long lineage of history within the UO world..

Ahh yes you've heard of HR Giger before? He's a quite common artist. Most famous for his work for the Alien movies.
