Hey all, I know I'm fairly new to this shard but I noticed something that seems a bit off and probably should be looked into. (That or my mental health...)
I've been fighting a fair amount of liches lately and their eval values seem to vary greatly. By this I mean one will hit me with a MA for 1-2 damage while another will hit me for 10. Ramp this up to something like ebolt and the range goes from 8-35. Fstrike gets a tad ridiculous going from ~20-50+. Sure makes fights exciting but that's not the point.
These variations are not from cast to cast, but rather from liche to liche. They will either hit me consistantly with low damage range stuff or high damage range (with slight variation around each end +-5).
Now with 50 resist I understand sometimes I'll resist and take lesser damage, but this does not seem to be the case as if I "resist magical energy" the damage/duration is lower, but from that initial damage range POV, not overall. Just curious if the NPC eval range is supposed to be that large that the damage swing is that noticable? Or have I just been away from t2a that long that things were that random back then.

Re: NPC Eval Int Range
A lich actually has a fixed eval. Lich Lords Eval does vary a little, but the margin is slim. They both also vary somewhat on magery, but again, small margin.
I'm not sure what would account for the variation you're seeing from creature to creature. The spells themselves do have a wide damage range, and even wider when you add resisting to it of course.

I'll second this...too often do I see one explode do 8 damage and the next 40 damage...
We need a more consistant average, too many dice rolls!

This is a great tool for sseing what kinds of damages are dished out by spells:

Re: NPC Eval Int Range
Yea I realize there's supposed to be some variation, but like I said, it's not spell to spell variation, but lich to lich. The lich will either be on the high end of all of his spells, or the low end. So if it's not a variation in their eval int, then there might be an issue with the way the dice roll is handled?
