All you need to do to solve the stable problem is add a max of 5 pets per character/account. This stops the 50 dragon turrets and allows the causal player to have a few pets.

The conundrum can not be so easily solved I believe, as the cappability to maintain said dragon turrets is a part of both the era accuracy as well as what makes this game what it is. If one wishes to cascade through dungeons with copious amounts of dragons, it is their wish and possibly their undoing. If UOSA were to implement a stable slot limit, why not bring in the follower patch as well? ( I know, Followers = NEA, but its quite close to the same concept ) Also making a cap on stable slots will cause resist training to be quite costly and time consuming, where art thou holding thy White Wyrms?
Having a set amount above 5 ( say 25, 50 ) would be suitable though still cause a mild bias against tamers.
Possibly a guaranteed number as well as the possibility of owning slots besides your current guarantee?
( 5 guarantee, and leave the stables to be filled otherwise, allowing dragon turreters and mare farmers to continue their risk vs reward gameplay of stable PVP, but sprinkling a dash of trammel on the problem for the sake of a solution? )

A few posters have touched on the topic already, but it seems important for the server to evolve. The slippery slope argument never really holds much water if T2A era accuracy is equal to 90% fun and 10% easily solved exploits, you can fix these with a bit of common sense and be better for everyone. Except the 1% who think knowing obscure facts about OSI is some kind of e-penis game.

The problem is not going to get better either, one of the worst things about vets that quit is they generally keep and refresh their stuff, hogging huge expanses of land. New players building up can't buy decent housing and leave. This can be seen at the moment with the mass demand for towers in the trade forum and nobody selling because of so many vets with their 15 houses never play and just refresh.

One question to consider I suppose is, what is more important to the shard? Retaining old players or gaining new players? I think firstly its both, both retaining old players is much much more important to the growth and health of the shard.

I think one thing we should strive to encourage is people to actually play the game, this includes encouraging new players to raise their warrior naturally rather than giving them the str8 printout of how to make a 7xgm character and how to most effectively farm.

a 3 pet guarantee per account would be a really simple way to solve it.

Yes it has been brought up a lot recently.
The problem is During the ERA Uo was and Ground Breaking MMO and it was hard if not impossible to foretell Every Eventuality that would Arise.

That being Said OSI did Eventually adapt and make changes later on.

There in lies the problem. We are stuck in a Time Frame where the gameplay was great but the Mechanics where not completely Flushed out yet.

I've said it before but I will say it again. The only reason Stable slots are a problem at all is someone thought to themselves "How can I take Advantage of the Fact this server is ERA Accurate"

This is what I am against. I don't mind people scamming or Greifing or anything else that went on during the T2A Era.
What I dislike is people Exploiting the Fact that this server Was made for those of us who Love the T2A Era ( for its ups and downs)

IMO people filling up the stables are not exploiting an "ERA accurate Feature" They are Exploiting a UOSA Feature. And i think that is a line that needs to be made and Enforced for the betterment of all who enjoy The T2A Gaming Experience.

There is alot of people who are hoarding slots with tons of rats, cats, and dogs who are not even tamers. They are just griefing the hell out of anyone who wants to use the stables. LOL

What could make it ERA accurate is to limit stable slots for characters who are not tamers. Seriously, back in that time frame we are trying to replicate a non tamer character was not going to stable 50+ rats, cats, and dogs just for the heck of it.

^but non-tamers are the people hit the hardest. The noob miner that wants to stable his pack horse so he doesnt have to spend another 700 gp is boned.
