New Player Build, What to and what not to

Post by Venom »

Hi All, im new to this shard, and am so happy i found one with a skill cap... I hate hybrid Shards but thats all there seems to be...

Anyway since it has been a while i need a few pointers if possible. So what im thinking is a bard build, but what extra skills?

Music
prov
disc
Taming
(animal lore - does it make a difference on this shard?)
Fencing
Healing

any suggestions? Sorry if i named skills wrong, im at work currently and am looking forward to starting this char when i get home.

Hey, and welcome to the shard.

For your build, I'd suggest checking out http://wiki.uosecondage.com/Templates where you can find a basic overview of the most popular builds.

Animal Lore consists of 20% of the chance for taming a pet.
From the Wiki:
The second purpose for this skill is to enhance Animal Taming in that the pet orneriness check is made by comparing the creatures "tameable at" level to 80% of the masters Tame skill plus 20% of the masters Lore skill.
I hate to say it but the build you have there seems lacking, you're missing Magery and Vet, so if you do tame anything you wouldn't be able to heal it, you're also missing wrestling so you'll find that if you do pick up magery, you will get interrupted a lot. Discord is also not that useful if I remember correctly.

I'd suggest changing it a little bit to:

Music
Provo
Magery
Meditation
Taming
Lore
Wrestling

With this you wont really be able to do any damage yourself, but your pets should be able to pick up the slack, plus you will be able to heal it with magery.

Good Luck!

This isn't quite accurate. Animal Lore is 20% of the formula for CONTROLLING a pet. That is, telling it to do stuff and having it actually listen to you.

Taming the pet to begin with is based purely on Animal Taming skill.

This is what i belived. for example a tamer with 0 animal lore wouldnt be able to tell a nightmare to do anything... where as with 50 lore it would fail sometimes, and 100 lore it will listen 100% of the time.

Thanks for the build info though!

I have always encouraged people to come up with original builds, however, sometimes a build is quite useless.

I'd recomend going with Soma's suggestion at least.
