Interest check: Pirate battle

Post by Elph »

I'm looking to organize a large scale Pirate battle. I'm thinking a team event, with two sides, somewhat like "Red Rover" but in groups.

Essentially we would pick a spot on the map (Say, the Loch Lake).

One team would be the blockade team, another team would be the "rush" team. The game would have 2 rounds, and a third, if necessary, as a tie breaker. The goal would be for the rush team to break the blockade and take their ships, including the blockade ships, to the coast of the Orc Fort, and capture it. Blockade team could decide on where to keep defenders, either on boats or at the fort itself, leaving room for a multitude of defensive tactics. The rush team, however, must use their boats to travel there, launching from Cove docks.

We would need a lot of boats to do this, but boat owners would not need to donate them, merely provide them for temporary use by unlocking their planks and leaving them keyless. Then, the blockade rush would be more than a simple mage fight, boarding boats and all sorts of other hijinx would be allowed and encouraged.

If anyone is interested, contact me through the forum or IRC (Frock) and I will begin to organize this effort and set a date. The more boats and players, the better. Also, some sort of reward for the winners would be fantastic to encourage participation. If anyone wants to see this happen, I hope to hear from you.

Sounds like a cool idea. The ship event around Cove that we had a long while ago was a ton of fun. Ship pvp is very under-appreciated. Also, It would be interesting to see how the new rules regarding summon spells will effect the game, last time most of the deaths were dealt by EVs.

I'd be willing to donate time, materials, whatever.

How about the battle for Justice Island? 1 team starts in boats on the opposite shore, another has to defend justice isle, and maybe some kind of 'flag' to be captured in your rune library.

Awesome RoadKill, that will be more than enough I'm sure. And Justice isle will work as well. If you'd be willing to set up a capture point then we'd have this party started, and could have it going on next weekend possibly.

Looks like the creation of the event won't be an issue, now just need to organize enough people/guilds to ensure participation. I'll start to spread the word and make a sign up thread in a couple days.
