Few Questions

Post by TheAbracadaver »

Hey guys, a few more random questions

1) Is the reason larger houses go for deeds+money is simply all real estate is taken and there isn't much room for larger houses?
2) I've been thinking of making a tank for fun and have herd various stories resulting the best one-hander.... so is the official verdict SMS or Fencing??
3) I've seen much chatter regarding LoS house killing, what exactly does this mean in a nut-shell? I didn't wanna read the 31 pages on it.

1. More or less. Even when there was room, good spots would yield a premium, but now virtually all spots do.

2. I'm not sure what you're asking. Katanas are, to my knowledge, the best one hand weapon, if that helps.

3. Certain houses can be reached anywhere from the outside with area effect spells. So you are not safe macroing inside them. People outside can kill you no matter where you stand. I don't know the full list but it does include keeps, castles (if they can get in your courtyard), and towers. It doesn't include L shapes.

Yes. Most of the "good" land is taken. Of course you can get lucky and find a good spot for a large house, but it's hard. There are plenty of good spots for small houses.

If by tank you mean Tank-Mage (High INT, low DEX), then swords is the way to go. If by tank you mean an armor wearing Warrior (or Dexxer), then I'd also suggest swords, as you have a wider variety of good weapons icluding the hardest hitting one (hally), and the fastest (katana)

Basically that there are some large houses (Castles, Keeps and Towers) were certain area of effect spells (meteor swarm and chain lightning) have a longer range since you can target the spells "under" the house. Meaning, you can be killed in a tower, keep or castle from outside.

Thanks guys,

I was thinking along the lines of High Str/Dex running around with a 1 hander and shield. Basicaly "Is a katana or kryss better," but that has been answered.

And with the LoS "Bug"? are L shapes now the most valuable/secure houseing?

Some people like large bricks, some patios and some L's. It really depends on your layout and how you like it best. It is worth mentioning that I have a keep and have not had trouble in it...then again, it is quite out of the way with no neighbors.

In general, all the other houses are secure...but there are instances where they are not that have to do with the terrain in the area.

Z-Axis...aka height. Houses by the water and near hills are vulnerable.

Some "coasts" in UO have a certain terrain drop, like a step down. If you have a house close to one of these dips, someone can stand down there and target area of effect spells inside the house, similar to what can be done to castles, towers and keeps.
