I think this may actually be kind of interesting only if you made the arena much bigger for several reasons. The two sides shouldn't be able to see each other so you don't know what to expect. This would allow stealth characters to participate too. Also, the bigger arena would allow tamers to be a little less overpowered. There should be key areas in the map where the pet should be able to get stuck and require the tamer to call him out, etc...

Something like this is fine with me just so long as you don't screw with the traditional tournies.

Getting into big arena changes wasnt somthing I had in mind really. Just have a different rule set in the standard arena like we have now with the different rule sets. Not turn into into a large project/task for derrick.

I think there is a significant difference there. Changing the boolean value for stealing in the region code seems like it would be relatively easy compared to searching through your followers array, determining which pet(s), and how many to teleport. I'm not even going to mention the troubles involved with troubleshooting this type of feature, and preventing any changes in the arena from being so in the real game. What if Buff's "stick" after the match, what if your pet dies, What happens if you change the name of your pet during battle, and so on.

I agree with faust, not to cause Derrick more involvement in the coding process, but because it's a great idea. It does pose a problem for spectators if the arena is too large, I think people would actually come and actually spectate, if events were held in this manner. Right now there is no option outside survival, tournaments, and Bagball. Hell, I can go to Destard right now and see 100x the excitement that I would witness watching a bard provoke during a survival game, more EB-hally action, involving more players, than the tournaments. Bagball isnt even worth mentioning in my opinion. I can get the same bagball-esque thrill by organizing my house.

How would spectating be handled in this situation?

My idea: 24/7 pvp arena handled by the same automated process as the one we use now. Can loot people and use whatever skill you want. Just no rewards. You are getting to loot your victim and that should be reward enough.

At the very most , you can get your name put in the pvp book.

We should be able to place houses too.

Looting or not, a 24/7 pvp arena is already IN the game, it's called sosaria, or whatever the fucking place is called!

Looting or not, a 24/7 pvp arena is already IN the game, it's called sosaria, or whatever the fucking place is called!

It may be a big PVP outfit that we call sosaria but all i see are people afraid to take on a farmer alone. If people are so chickenshit to take on a tamer, then i wouldn't dare have any expectation of them fighting a fair fight with another other type of character. People here are cowards afraid to lose things so they only gang up on you. I figure if you put in the pvp arena and give no rewards other than the ability to 1 v 1 people without interference, pvpers would have nothing more to whine about.
