Re: Poison
You can say whatever you want it doesn't really matter much to me if you didn't happen to notice already. The facts still remain in the end rather you like it or not. Produce some substantial evidence to back up your claims or stop complaining. This shard doesn't change game mechanics based on who whines the most unlike other RunUO shards that you have played on that has obviously corrupted your memory if you actually played.

Just reiterating me whining again. To include my ulterior motives.poogoblin wrote: The thing is, the evidence I and the others before me have found trumps your evidence, in my opinion.
Alas, neither your opinion nor mine matters here.
Derrick is the Judge and Jury in this case, and if he decides to leave it I'm fine with that. In my mind it won't be era accurate, but that matters little to my game play, as anymore I'm much more of a blewbie anyway.

Re: Poison
Consider this logically. If this publish states that cure pots are now scaled to the strength of the poison, then that means they were not before. Erego, the way it is now is pretty goddamn accurate save the Publish that I found myself on the UO website being slightly altered by Kraarug himself via some 1337 haxing skills for the very purpose of "nerfing" Poisoning.Kraarug wrote: Renaissance Publish Apr 28 2000 10:28AM CST wrote:
Cure Potions
Cure potions will now cure poison based on the relative strength of the cure potion and the poison afflicting the character. A lesser cure will have virtually no chance of curing a deadly poisoned character, while a greater cure will cure greater poison much more often than not. All other cure and poison levels will scale accordingly.
I don't even consider the skill nerfed regardless. Every second you spend standing still to cast a spell or drink a pot gives me another chance to hit you again with my DPed weapon so I'm still doing some generous damage even if my Poisons are never ticking. Have you decided to heal yourself through the Poison? That's fine. Saves me on DP pots. I haven't fielded my Poisoner yet (still isn't GM but getting there) but, theoretically, Poisoning is still very useful for PvP when you're looking to play a dex monkey.
Oh and the recalculations/damages are fine too.

At least change the angle so people can't see where my characters are. Fire/IPBan anyone who plays my characters too plz. KThxBai.
Re: Poison
Your opinion will change when you actually field with a poison dexxer. Nothings worse than chasing someone for 40 secs watching DP tick away 1 hp every 5 secs wondering whether they're going to die from DP, run out of stamina (technically impossible since you cannot get below 7 hp from DP ticks), or are you going to eventually catch them due to their mount fatigue and finally finish them off with another melee hit.Mephistopheles wrote:I haven't fielded my Poisoner yet (still isn't GM but getting there) but, theoretically, Poisoning is still very useful for PvP when you're looking to play a dex monkey.

Re: Poison
I'm sure this has already been brought up but...even if it does work the way faust says it did (it didn't) this shows that it was never intended to.

# There are now five levels of poison. The difference between them is the rate at which your health goes down. These levels of poison will have different levels of difficulty when you try to cure them. You will be able to make differing levels of poison with alchemy.
Re: Poison
EA intended to have many different "perspectives" or "views" from what the game was early on when it was released. The current by product of that game is exactly what they viewed and not too many actually believe that is anything what Ultima Online should be like.

So lesser cure was never able to cure Deadly Poison even before T2A?
Looks like we've been severely bullshitted.
I'm not sure when EA bought Origins but I don't think Faust's post has any relevance anyways.
A good question, at this point, would be as to why they would make the same statement about cure pots twice? Perhaps they nerfed cure pots a bit more than beforehand in 2000?

Re: Poison
The 1998 post was the way it was suppose to work but for a long time one could cure DP with a lessor cure. In 2000 they readdressed it and made the chance to cure much more difficult.Mephistopheles wrote:[EDIT] JUST TO SAVE YOU ON READING, I'LL SIMPLIFY AND REMOVE ALL THE SUPERFLUOUS TEXT:

BTW, I tested poison on the Test Center and it seems to be much better in terms effect on targets.
I didn't play a mage on Test and, my unwilling targets didn't seem to want to share their side of the experience with me when we were done fighting, so I couldn't tell you how it affected interruption but from a 2nd person POV, it seem as if the poison affected them.
Overall, I think the poison and interruption changes on test are good.

Re: Poison
The thing that these two patch notes are saying to me is between 4/13/1998 and 4/28/00, at some point the cure system was revertted back to "one cure pot heals all" most probably a bug.
I still stick with the poison essay as probably being the most accurate DURING THE TIME FRAME OF T2A I PLAYED (and I quit before UO:R, so I know I'm not getting my connections crossed). This timeframe obviously doesn't hold true for everyone, it seems.
I point back to the 4/13/98 patch notes as this is the way it was for a period of time and it was the way that it was intended.

How can you accept the UO:R post but not the 1998 post? Not sure how much further you can progress for "evidence" than from patch notes

All the curing and poison code from 04/13/1998 are inside the demo OSI gave us. You can't have better evidence than that.

Ah, I wasn't aware the demo held code from 4/13/98.
What time frame is the demo supposed to cover up to?
