The whole argument of "if you don't like it don't participate" is weak.
They've participated in events, they know they can't win them.. thats like the entire reason for it.
That's downright idiotic.
This has nothing to do with people simply not liking or enjoying the events, nor is the majority of people who voted here simply bad at these events and thus, out of spite, want them removed.
Simply put, what made UO great was that it allowed the players to do whatever they wanted, but as the players did as they pleased, it created conflict and interaction.
The events here distract from the regular gameplay, by taking a decent portion of the online/active players, taking them out of the regular world, to a different map, to where they can contend in a game completely separate from the rest of the playerbase.
Pvmers, newbies, pks, anti's...all manner of players are taken out of the game world to occupy themselves in something else entirely. As such you see diminished activity during events.
This is not about being able to find field action, it is a distraction that detracts from the entire game.
When you compound this, taking into account the amount of time that each event takes up, the fact that they're run multiple times a day, throughout the day, and held every single day of the week, then I think it is a valid argument to say that these do in fact detract from the actual gameplay of the server.
The events here have nothing to do with the era. Bagball? Capture the flag? What does these have to do with Ultima?
Slowly phase out events, add some content here and there to spice things up, and allow players to go back to creating their own fun.
Just like it was in the era.

Stand corrected.
However, point still stands...these events have nothing to do with the era.

Era accuracy isn't important if people can make money off some silly custom addition.

Change the way tourneys are run imo have the gm's still give statue prizes but have them hosted in a player area, or hosted by a player, maybe someone canadian who owns a museum...

all player ran events Ive hosted involving pvp admin have been more than willing to create awesome prizes for. Unfortunately, not many players are willing to participate in player ran events. That didn't change when events were removed before.

Yes, because there were no admin run events on production shards... oh wait, yes there was.
They were called Seers, and they were very active in making events, several times a week actually. Granted, they were different types of events than the ones that SA has, but they still would draw in people which would "disrupt the flow of natural gameplay".

so far today we have had two events, there has been a total of 17 participants out of 300 ips in both which were removed from 'normal game play' for about a total of 20 minutes so far. Will continue to track.
(1:32:23 PM) SecondAge: 4v4 PvP Tournament is scheduled to begin in 4 minutes. (3/8/2010 1:30:00 PM)
(1:37:22 PM) SecondAge: The first tournament match starts in 12 seconds with 4 particpant(s). If you are entered, you will be pulled.
(1:38:58 PM) SecondAge: The tournament is now over. The winners were: Luigi, Fortune Favors, Chad, Martin X
10 more players out of the real world for 5 minutes. out of 350 ips.
(1:39:40 PM) SecondAge: Signups for 2 vs 2 Tournament have Opened
(1:44:52 PM) SecondAge: The first tournament match starts in 12 seconds with 9 particpant(s). If you are entered, you will be pulled. (i went to that one lots of one player teams

)
been twenty mins waiting for the end of this one chad treemeister luige and oforutne favours been goin at it along time. So 4 guys out of the world for about 30 minutes. No one watching really.
15 players out of the real world out of 350 ips. for twenty minutes + 4 guys. Will keep trackign todays activity.
9 or 10 hours later another event
[22:30] <@SecondAge> The first tournament match starts in 12 seconds with 24 particpant(s). If you are entered, you will be pulled.
[22:22] <@SecondAge> Server: RunUO 2.0 Creatures: 100815 Items: 4161106 Guilds: 800 Clients Online: 681 IP's: 406
so at this event there is about 30 clients (about 25 players) a few newbs coming and going through the event gates.
25 minutes later about half the players have left the event area so theres about 15 players still here.
[23:03] <@SecondAge> The tournament is now over. The winner was: Treemeister
so about 15 people it took them for 15 minutes out of the real map and it took 15 players off the map for a half hour.
If you actually look at the amount of people participating in these events versus the amount of players online it is not a compelling argument that it is draining the world of players. Rarely did that ratio go anywhere near 1/20 players at an event compared to playing in 'the real world' (by ip). The length of the events that all of these players are 'drained' from the world is also short.

no he doesn't

.
Chad wants them removed because he doesn't care about trophies, he's given away like 3452543543 points, and just sold like 96 silver coins for 100k.
afaiac your arguement still sucks.

Im glad your the guild cheerleader, but im sure people can speak for themselves. You don't even know what the argument is, as you've stated previously in this thread.
