Negative, I remember when they fixed the house break in, this had nothing to do with flying, this had to do with stamina. The nightmares had infinate stamina which allowed them to run right through house doors. This information also suggests in the thousand hp range which would make the firebreath around 50 points as I suggested earlier.Mikel123 wrote:Ahhhhh! OK. Stranger... far as I can tell, nightmares were first spawned with 1000+ HP and were able to fly. There were patches that removed the flying due to a house break-in bug with patio houses, and one that lowered it's HP. Existing nightmares were grandfathered though. I do distinctly remember "pre-patch" nightmares being sold on production shards back in the day. Presumably they had the 50-pt fireballs that come with having that much HP. And I don't think they ever cast level 8 spells; Stratics is just saying they have the magery level required to do so, if those spells were in their spellbook.

Flying for nightmares has been removed to prevent a house break-in exploit.
Stats have been modified to better balance them.
Ah, well I also remember an exploit where they could run through house doors due to infinate stam. I see it mentioning balancing stats, but see nothing about it saying that their hps were reduced.Mikel123 wrote:Stranger wrote:Negative, I remember when they fixed the house break in, this had nothing to do with flying, this had to do with stamina. Hps are a stat but it doesnt say weather hps are one of the stats they adjusted, or how much they adjusted them. During t2a nightmares never ran out of stamina they could run forever. There was a bug where this would allow them to run right through doors if you did it right.Mikel123 wrote:HPs are a stat.
What does stamina have to do with running through doors? How does something have "infinite" stamina?
I can't tell if you're messing with me.
Faust wrote:The flying exploit went in sync with the fetch command. People would tell a nightmare to fly through house windows and through patios to fetch an item. Birds were even used for this but they couldn't hold a lot of weight unlike other creatures. The fetch command was eventually removed altogether because of this exploit.
I ws kinda of wondering about fetch myself. Was suprised when it didnt work.tekai wrote:Fetch is accurate to our time frame, and i believe is eventually on derricks list
It was one of Kefka's biggest "wants"

Our stats for the nightmare are based on Taming archive, which has proved to be a very reliable source:Mares on UOSA do have a mana pool of 300 to 500Code: Select all

Mikel123 wrote:Stranger, I posted the patch note above, detailing the exact date that Nightmare stats changed to what they were for the remainder of T2A. If you can find another patch note that says they were changed back, by all means post it. Stratics on Archive.org is often the same whether you pull the "Oct 1999" page or the "May 1999" page, because either Stratics didn't update often enough, or Archive.org didn't save copies frequently enough.
I went through this a few months back from your same perspective. I hunted the internetz for confirmation about these 50-pt fireballs, but the only possible explanation is that their original stats were such that they had that, and they were nerfed in March 1999 via that patch note.
Your memory has already been proven wrong regarding the mare flying exploit, and you've claimed that mares have infinite stamina, which is laughable on a number of levels. I don't think the credibility of your memory is terribly high right now; finding some website that validates your claims is probably your best bet.
