Dagon has been banned several times for racist remarks in irc.

Maybe we need perma banned status for repeat offenders.

I dont endorse personal insults or bad behavior in any way. But uo has allways suffered from bounch of assholes, and there is actually something you can do about it in this game, kill them, grief them or just ignore them. I really cant understand how someone can get offended by 13 year old kid that thinks bad words are the kewel thing to write in a game.

I don't think it's about being offended really, it's about the general state of the shard, there is pretty much nothing anyone could say that would "offend me" in the sense that I would be upset by a single remark and worry about it or something, I think most of the community here has enough years playing UO or something else that they have been exposed to plenty of similar stuff...

When behavior like this becomes very common though, it sets a shitty tone for the whole shard IMO, and alot of people will decide not to play, or the very least be far less active here based on the general ambience set by it.

I'm not necessarily in favor of any censorship or controls (well, maybe with naming of guilds and characters), but it's not about "being offended", there is a real impact on things when no standards whatsoever are set. A sandbox game is ultimately about the players, and if the tone set by them is this kind of behavior, that will determine who plays here, and who doesn't.

Whatever the case, i'm glad to see there are people concerned by it, it would be an even worse sign for the shard if no one cared at all.

Who cares. It's not like people are being racist on UO hunting players down in real life putting their teeth on a curb and stomping the back of their head. It's just words on an online game some idiot kid is spewing. If it bothers you that much just stop playing lol.

No one knows what race any of each other are unless you disclose that information for whatever stupid reason. This is a video game we are represented by a little 2D cartoon figure. No racism can be directed at anyone and those getting offended need something better to dwell upon.

HUh???!! did you notice I didn't come out in favor of any censorship beyond naming restrictions? I certainly wouldn't ask for restrictions of in game behavior life griefing, ganking, pking, scamming, that kind of stuff is a huge ppart of the game. How the hell was anything i'm saying advocating Trammel-like action?

I love how anytime someone makes an argument about virtually anything questioning a policy or a behavior, it's all about screaming TRAMMEL as loud as you can, make an argument and respond to what i'm actually saying instead of creating some stupid straw man to knock down.

If i wanted a trammel freeshard I could play on demise, so could anyone else.

You weren't. I was confused by what Sjane3384 said as well.

And as far as I'm concerned, people still called each other niggs, etc in Trammel. You just couldn't pk each other.

just went through an hour plus event with 30 players and didnt hear or see anyhting slightly sexist or racist :/ your hangin out with the wrong peopel in game

Im not trying to get anyone banned but prevent people from leaving our shard because our community looks like a buncha ignoramuses. You stated earlier that if I dont like it quit thats exactly what I dont want to see happen. Even if you are my enemy I like the fact your here and are a active player. I hope this shard grows and this type of behavior stands in the way of true growth.
