i think 5 hours is not enough for any statistical research. make it 100!

Pristiq doesn't think it is accurate if i take breaks during a fishing post ... so if you know of a way that i can fish and stay awake for 100 hours as well as go to work during the day ... just let me know

Pristiq may think whatever he wants doesnt he? run several sessions and aggregate results then. i dont think there will be a significant statistical difference. also, you can process results with excel (there are a lot of analysis and statistical functions) if you fancy.

13 hours of data is really inconclusive. I think what you are doing is great and you're on the right track. However, when you're dealing with a % per hour, 13 hours is like pissing in the wind.
You need a bare minimum of 100 or 200 hours on this. I would recommend 1000.
My Recommendation:
You should organize other fishermen to gather factual data, because if you fudge it, they will know. This way you can collect multitudes of organized data, as long as everyone adheres to pre-set guidelines. Also, pristiq is wrong, as long as you're doing it in as close to whole hours as you can get.
You need a bare minimum of 100 or 200 hours on this. I would recommend 1000.

That is the original fishing patch thread that was locked and closed. Many many posts were made in it detailing post patch pull rates being substantially lower than the stated "1 MiB per hour average".

all need to be macroing the same way, same skill level, same everything

Seems like it would be easier to just determine the max amount of fishing attempts you can make in an hour, and then just look at the actual code used for the statistics. I mean, the code for weapons and magery etc is posted, why not this if we all "know" (I dont but I don't really care either) that X amount of <whatevers> should be pulled on average.

It doesn't matter if you break it into small or large chunks of time, assuming each cast of your line has the same chance of pulling one up.
Now, it may be the case that there is a finite number of MIBs and they are distributed based on resource square (one of those 8x8 chunks of tiles).
So, imagine you have one fisherman, who throws down a line every 8 tiles. He'll have the normal chance of grabbing an MIB. Now imagine you have two fishermen, each fishing on the same spot. Because there's only one MIB on that 8x8 grid, whoever plops down their line first will get it, and whoever casts second will not. So now, your rate looks like half of what it should be.
Now imagine you have two guys fishing on one side of the boat, and one guy on the other side of the boat. The two guys share the same resource squares, and the one guy on the other side has his squares to himself. So now, 3 guys are getting the MIBs that two would normally get. So, your observed rate is 2/3 the true rate.
My point is... until Derrick weighs in on how this works (and I'm not sure he should or he has to), I would stick to fishing with one fisherman. And yes, noxmonk and rouss are correct... 5 or even 15 hours tells you nothing. I'm happy to stat test your numbers as you get them (I use website calculators instead of Excel; much easier to me).

ok ... gonna change it up today ...
gonna put my 3 GM fishers all on different boats and space them out so that they are not on the same resource Spot. and we shall see if it does any different.
will be sad if it is true ... Fishing is bad enough as it is .. lets hope its not true that if you fish with a buddy, you won't do as well!!

ok ... this time i went out on 3 different boats with my 3 GM fishers, fishing in different resource locations at ALL times.

Without some more information regarding the time between fishing attempts, these numbers don't really mean that much.
