Re: EVENTS GETTING CUT OUT

I am a new player and would like to experience more events. Also, I suggest creating another thread with a voting system to get a more accurate portrayal of what people want.
A forum for discussion of Second Age UO Shard

You are completely right. Players who don't participate in the actual Ultima world are completely expendable from the server, and are more or less the "trammel" players of OSI. Except events are even worse than trammel in the fact they are 100% grief proof.MatronDeWinter wrote:Someone said this (events) is just an aspect of the game that some people enjoy, and that not everyone enjoys farming, pk'ing, crafting, etc.
Well, the major difference is that those people farming, crafting, and pking are out there in the world where each profession can have a social effect on the other. Events are turning the game into instance based pvp, if I wanted that I would personally go play some other game.
There would probably be more players if UOSA just added a trammel facet, does that mean that one should be added here?
What other suggestions do you have on mind? As of now, the more talented people get the silver participating in events by performing well, first place in a ctf for example. I don't like the fact I don't get the opportunity to participate in events as much as I use to or have as many chances at performing well at events due to the event cut.Kryptonical wrote:I think some one mentioned it really good here already. They said that they dont hate the events, they just hate the value of silver...I personally dont know if I agree 100% but I do agree that something should be done to adjust, maybe not the value of silver, but the instances you would receive silver...

Basically, the event schedule prior to the one now was better, I think, for newer people like myself and people who consistently do well really enjoyed the old event schedule. If you fall inbetween there somewhere, then I can see why you like the event cut.
I agree. I don't know how profitable events are, but they should not be an ALTERNATIVE to actually playing the game (crafting, pvming, stealing, pking for gold). You shouldn't be able to only play events and make gold by selling the spoils.Kryptonical wrote:this is exactly what I'm saying AGAINST, the more talented people get the silver? For participating in a NON uo world event and get reward in silver IN world for doing so? that doesnt make sense... shoots, throw a 1000000 events a day (I personally think they should be random as well, dont post a schedule, I personally think thats just INVITING people to "wait to log in" for the event) but dont give them anything for participating, they should be participating because its "fun" for them, not because they are getting rewarded in game for it.
Well, my arguement to that is it takes good awareness and decent execution to win silver in events that are related to procedures one would do outside of events and somewhere else in the game. I point at Spanky for this example, he wins a lot of tournaments and is a really talented player in tournaments and outside of tournaments, I think he should be rewarded for that. On top of that the silver coins can be valued differently depending on who you talk to. Some individuals may pay the full amount of gold per a silver coin. On the other hand, other individuals probably don't care at all about what the list of items are that silver could buy and can use the coins to trade to get items that are reasonable for themselves.Kryptonical wrote:this is exactly what I'm saying AGAINST, the more talented people get the silver? That is completely irrelevant.i`` wrote:Well, my arguement to that is it takes good awareness and decent execution to win silver in events that are related to procedures one would do outside of events and somewhere else in the game. Also why should spanky (insert l33t pvp'er here) be rewarded outside of the realm of UO world with in game items because he is good at pvp?i`` wrote: Well, my arguement to that is it takes good awareness and decent execution to win silver in events that are related to procedures one would do outside of events and somewhere else in the game. I am really missing where the irrelevence is in which you state I am speaking of.nightshark wrote:That is completely irrelevant.i`` wrote:Well, my arguement to that is it takes good awareness and decent execution to win silver in events that are related to procedures one would do outside of events and somewhere else in the game. Spanky should be rewarded for being a good player??? Surely he'd be rewarded at player hosted events and just being "good at the game" in general, if he were not participating in events.
That may be rewarding for them, but silver has value, they are good at something they should get something for it.Chaos wrote:I think he was suggesting this.. (plz correct me if I'm wrong) for alt..

Maybe we were speaking of 2 different things. I was thinking that in game was the game normally being played logged on. On the other hand, outside the UO world, in which you have been calling it, I thought you were pertaining to the time in which players are participating in events.Kryptonical wrote:Also why should spanky (insert l33t pvp'er here) be rewarded outside of the realm of UO world with in game items because he is good at pvp?
Glad that is cleared up thank you.Kryptonical wrote:... uummm ... where to start? ...
Ok when people on here are referring to in the uo world vs out of the uo world:
Both scenarios are happening after some one hits "log in" to play uo, however OUT OF THE UO WORLD, pertains to events/locations that are not accessible via regular game play (events are not considered regular game play).
I'm not saying spanky should get a new car in real life because he is good at pvp. I'm saying that he shouldn't get a valuable item IN THE UO WORLD by playing OUTSIDE OF THE UO WORLD...
again to make sure this is clear to you:
both scenarios are played after you log into a character
scenario 1) IN the uo world, is inside of Cove farming elder gazers, that player is IN uo world.
scenario 2) OUTSIDE the uo world, is when l33t pvp'er is dueling inside of a designated dueling arena (basically trammel) built somewhere in green acres, that player is OUTSIDE the uo world.
In scenario 2, the player should not get rewarded with items IN world. shit if they are really after a reward, make them fight on neon pink ethereal beetles with various neon hued skin tones...IN THE event, but none of which should be carried over into the UO world.
Why is "Ultima Online" exclusively non-automated events? In my opinion, if you use the UO client and connect to a server acting as a shard through RunUO you are playing Ultima Online regardless of if you do it to play in automated events. Calling event players "trammies" (paraquote) simply because they enjoy organization is a misrepresentation of their viewpoints just to get others to agree with your viewpoint.nightshark wrote: You are completely right. If you don't enjoy playing Ultima, then why are you here in the first place? I don't get it.
