A friend told me after he quit like a week after we joined this server..." this isn't anything like UO, not enough people to make it worth playing , they are all sitting in IRC talking Sh#* and not playing". He sheep farmed in his tower to keep busy in game until he found some other game to play.
your friend is an idiot. he sat in his tower sheep farming and then complained there was noone playing? sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. for those of us who actually do leave our towers, you'll find plenty more people on this shard just out "doing things" than on any other uo server

My friend is an old skool pk from siege ...he was unbeatable. He got here and no one would duel without a 100k charge and no one would fight without a gank. Politics = people afraid to lose their face value without having the chance to make gold from it.
He did his sheep farm as a last resort to find something to do....he finally finished gathering the wool and the next day derrick put in the patch making bandages cut 1 at a time....that was the last straw.
Another friend recently left because we literally couldn't find anything to do together. Keep in mind these are people i grew up with in UO, saying it's boring. He recently let his house fall.
Lost 2 others months ago because they got bored.
I tend to get irritated from time to time that we actually came here for this very thing and it turned out to be the same thing that made us lose interest as well.

To be honest; as a humble voice from the bricks of Britian: I think you lot are crazy.
Its the same as it ever was concerning people's behaviour, conduct and the way the game feels.
Stop using IRC as a place to idle, stop using the forums as a place to talk instead of in-game and you will find the game you knew.
The forums/IRC should be closed most of the day to prevent this sort of out-of-medium behaviour and only have a 1 or two hour window a day for usage; so maybe the energy your wasting here would be better spent in-game.

lol at gks friend what a douche
Plenty of action just gota leave the tower. I wont grudge for free, but ill fight anyone on field.
And yes, its a smaller community, and alot of us talk over irc, but its not essential. You can be an outsider and have plenty of fun interacting in this very accurate t2a sandbox.

It makes sense though. With era accuracy comes stagnation. We really have nothing to look forward to because nothing will ever be added, so the game becomes boring after the nostalgia wears off.

People lose interest because they get all full of themselves and forget they are actually dealing with other human beings.
They forget to talk, they forget to interact and exchange ideas and plans; thats stagnation: A game with a solid level of interaction does not require new fancy things to keep it interesting.
It is the people, NOT the game that made it amazing. And we have the same calibre of people then as we have now.
I suggest if anyone is losing interest, you need to rethink why your playing. Do random acts of charity and leave gold around or armour and items where someone might suddenly find it. Increase the randomness with random puzzles and human made treasure hunts.
The point: Use your flipping imagination and stop whinging!

Yea, Myg is right. A Games mechanics will only take it so far. Its the community that makes the game.
