Step one I think would be coming to a conclusion on what the rules will be.

Stay in character

No flaming or trolling (mostly directed towards replies people make to the post) with all counter-rping being agreed upon beforehand. I.E. you cannot challenge someone in RP without prior consent. I've seen too many good RPs get derailed because someone came in and trolled with their own RP "calling out" the OP for a fight or simply to insult them.

Proper grammar should be used

No controlling other peoples characters without their permission

No God RPing. You're not a God, don't RP like one.

Given our current demographic, I don't see Xroads becoming a traditional role-playing forum like you'd see on Gaia or something. We also have an entire game for people to do this in. I think it'd be mostly story-telling or the various RP guilds discussing their events like it is now.

I think you might be surprised after a while. Many shards like ours have roleplay forums that are very successful, albeit slow. There are some very high quality posts. It will mostly be story telling, but it's entertaining for those of us actually into RP.

I'm definitely into RP. Been doing it since I could get onto a computer and knew what AIM is. Not bashing it at all; just saying I don't think it'll be a typical RP-style forum given the type of people UOSA tends to attract. Granted, I've been seeing more RPers this year than I ever have, so maybe I'm wrong.

I'm happy with that outcome, just update the forum description and we are good to go!

I still have not received any final recommendations on forum rules or a new description. I'd like to get this set up, and maybe add some moderators.

I wouldn't mind taking on the role of moderator, though I don't know I have the credentials to volunteer. I can get lots of people to vouch for character though!

I modified the Description and changed the rules to read:
"This forum is strictly for in-game RP and storyline related info. For more general discussion, please post in General Discussion or Other, as appropriate."

I'll leave the call for mods open for a little while. I have no opposition to SJane modding, would like to find at least one highly qualified cantidate that would be willing to take on the task on cleaning up the ineligible existing threads; moving them to more appropriate forums.

Since the RPVs and Screenshots subforum is there, maybe those should be made subforum of main instead? That way people who has ss's and vids that they don't necessarily want to roleplay will have a place to put them. If Crossroads is going to be the main RP channel, maybe then make Tales of Adventure a pic/vid thread specifically for RP? It doesn't really make sense to me to have a forum and subforum dedicated to the exact same thing, which it seems like they are now.

I forgot to say, I was a mod at Sims2Play for awhile, before it died....but that was like 2ish years ago.

Having the Tales of Adventure subforum there doesn't make much sense and holds the content that will most likely be moved to the main forum since that is what the forum is for anyway.

That's what I meant. Using ToA as a pic thread separates the interactive RP from the storytelling.

Talked to Derrick about it yesterday and the ToA sub is suppose to be more along the lines of stories that aren't exactly "in character", kind of like a lot of what cA posts in theirs. They are telling stories, but not so much in a character form.
