I remember that conversation. Who brought that up?

Local inhabitant. We are not aware of the use of this phrase "derp." Respond.

Captain, I have ran the transmission through the universal translator and Starfleet archives. The word "derp" (Earth, 2005-2014 C.E.) is a verb meaning "to make funny faces". In this conjugation, it would suggest that the Doppleganger of myself is aware that she is making funny faces. The image is a satiricle parody of a mid century fictional drama entitled "Star Wars" in which the main character Han Solo proclaims his mission is "to boldly go where no man has gone before".

The data seems to be a bit corrupted, perhaps you should take heed when conversing in these lifeform's native dialect until Dr. Crusher recieves the translation information via subspace frequency.

Noted. Thank you, Counselor.

Doesn't irrelevant spam contravene the forum CoC?

Agreed. You are obviously in violation on the local codes of conduct.

I can't speak for the rest of the crew, but I do apologize if this is the case; I felt it was relevant to post a "new around here" hailing frequency to try and branch out and participate in the community here. Afterall, that is one of Star Fleet's goals: to interact with the local communities that populate galaxies far far away and learn about their local laws and customs as well as culture. I'll go review this "CoC" you speak of to prevent further issues, however. I'd rather not get in trouble on my first few away missions to this planet, LOL!

(OOC: Sorry, for real, we were just modeling some of our behavior after many of the forum posters we've encountered thusfar--it seems like you have quite a few colorful characters here, and felt like we'd fit in here. We heard about this game on Reddit and it just sounded interesting with Star Trek Online failing so miserably LOL!)

La Forge to bridge--Captain, I've reviewed this planet's local customs and laws as it pertains to this "CoC" and this correspondence forum. It appears that we are communicating within the bounds of the local laws. However, it does appear that this BobDobbs individual is what is colloquially referred to as a "troll" and he appears to be baiting us for a "flame war." It appears that he is in direct violation with his local laws and I recommend we review the proper channels of communication and/or action to deal with his transgressions. LOL! Forge, over.

(OOC: Edited for typos, LOL!)

Very good, Mr La Forge. We should still proceed with caution. We don't want to start any unnecessary conflicts even if with the local buffoons. Keep me apprised of the situation.

Picard out.
