If it were done without any announcement or warning and ended in a relatively quick amount time, I think another CUB would be a good idea. Maybe have it last an hour or two so that people aren't really able to start churning out new items.
I'm a little skeptical that a large amount of people are sitting around with crates full of heating stands waiting for CUB 2.

the point of CUB on osi was to move into the next stage of the housing phase.
I dont think we will ever be moving to that phase

Then why has there already been a CUB?

I am not for or against one. But Derrick said there would not be another CUB.
For a while people like my uncle Olman and auntie Matron were hoarding items b/c they awaited a new CUB (you cant deny it nerd). This made item count soar from memory. I want to say this was around a year ago.
However, since Derrick has already publicly stated that CUB would not happen again, perhaps it could work. I cant imagine people really are still hoarding items for CUB.
As Bob suggested, a quick CUB that was unannounced and short, would limit exploiters who are not very active (like ddb DocFaust).

i guess you jsut ahve to decide why we are runnign a CUB again. Are we running it to reduce item count? are we running it move to the next housing phase, or are we running it for nostalgia purposes?

Don't we play here for nostalgia purposes?

Downs wrote:Basically the only people that don't want this to happen again are those who were around for the first one and are still hoarding items from it. I was 2 weeks into the shard when it happened and it was fun. I'm honestly suprised we haven't had another. Our population is so greatly different now and it would be nice for the newer community members to experience it. Its stupid to campaign against it.
I was not around for it and I don't want to see another one.
Lets look at the facts: It happened on OSI because they were changing the housing system. Suddenly people with 40,000 items in a single house weren't going to be able to keep those 40,000 items and would be forced down to 400, give or take. A LOT of people were upset about this, so EA decided to make a little gift system to take their minds off it while removing a ton of items from the game. Suddenly, all the items were trashed and people begun making all new items to push their points up. The whole thing was exploited beyond belief and millionaires were made practically overnight from all the rewards people were collecting to sell.
UOSA doesn't need this from either an economical standpoint or a technical standpoint. In fact, it will more than likely do more damage to the economy, much like it did to EA shards, than it would to help it in the long run. We have a silver system that provides items you can't get within the game already without really having any negative effect on the economy or the shard as a whole.

Thats part of the problem right there........CUB is more era accurate than the damn silver system.
Item count reduction for the win.

item count reduction short term, net increase in items long term

Is already happening......1.8m->5.6m in 1 year? Static player #'s = does not compute.

hence cub doesnt address the issue...
so if the goal is item reduction it is a non solution

There has been already ONE CUB on this shard. After doing a little research there was only one CUB on OSI back in era.
Era accuracy has been served.

The Silver System allows introduction of items that were around in T2A era but for the most part unobtainable. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing it expanded to include things like furniture. Always wanted full bookshelves and vanities, but crafters couldn't make them.
Plus, the daily events are good fun, whether or not you agree with them is moot. That topic has beaten the horse to death.
