In my opinion, the pkers here are semi accurate. Before T2A almost all pkers role played, there was sort of a ethical standard value amongst them. They didn't kill their neighbors., didn't kill players far below their own skill levels. ( most pker's, wouldn't associate with pkers who killed new or low skilled players, or gang pk), and when they did kill, they only looted what they needed, didn't dry loot. Some would even sit your items on ground so wouldn't decay as fast as body. They would either rez you and gate you to town, or gate your ghost to town. There was a bit of pride in being able to kill "prey" whose skills on a par with their own levels, on a one to one bases. Lot of times, they would even
congratulate you for giving them a good fight. Many pkers became rather respected and developed a kind of good reputation amongst other players.
And yes, there were some who didn't choose to play that style. Slowly the gang pking became popular, The mean type aspect entered the pker's life style. these were the ones who became disliked, not respected.
Please remember, this is information from the shard I played on in the early days of UO. I do not know
if it was the same on all shards.
