I know there are plenty of programs out there for editing .mul files and the verdata files that would fix many problems on this shard but none of you have ever seem to have mentioned them.
Has any of the staff ever checked them out? It's possible that they may only work with the older clients, but I doubt it.

The problem being that new players to the shard are the ones that will be most confused by the spellbook discrepancy, and also the ones least likely to be willing to apply a client patch just to check us out.
I was all about making the regent requirement changes until the spellbook issue was brought to my attention.

Every other single shard I have played on required you to download certain files. They could still check out the shard and then once they're into it realise they need to get the files for a few graphical fixes or what have you.
I knew this would be a solution to a few other things but I can't quite remember them at the moment, oh well.

I like to call this the Novus Opiate effect. If anyone is familiar with this old shard they would know what that means. Their setup was not user friendly, meaning you had to download files and so forth to be able to connect to it. Having to do this for a new player is so inconvenient when they have other options out there that theoretically uses the plug n play method for them to access another shard much easier. This problem killed the shard before it had even opened. This of course wasn't the only thing that killed it, but it was a major contribution to it.

I think there should be a HUGE link
LIKE THIS BIG
on the main site on the top that says
NEW PLAYERS CLICK HERE
and explains everything so that even my 80 year old grandma could understand.

If you updated the client files it would auto update razor, no? And I think for accuracy sake this change would be worth it. Those who plug and play will simply see the wrong 'regs' listed. They wouldn't have to download a patch to play, they'd just have to eventually download it for accurate tracking.
Reg usage seems like a big aspect of T2A to me. It needs to be fixed, somehow.

Faust I think you are going quite overboard on this one. Majority of the shards until lately have had files you had to download, it's the easiest thing to do and it could help a lot here.

Hemp mind you that this was over 5 years ago involving Novus Opiate.
A simple auto patch like you're talking about didn't exist back then. I haven't dealt with patching in many years, and to be honest I have no idea what it is like now days. I just know with Novus Opiate they had everything perfect with every gump, item, and anything related to having to patch the client files. However, it was such a pain in the ass that there were many people that didn't play because of it. I don't mind if we end up patching. It wouldn't bother me one bit. I'm just thinking towards it negatively based on past experiences is all.

Well I'm just saying it may be worth checking out if you guys can think of other ways that this would be helpful. It is a simple replacement of a file, although I know verdata isn't used in the newer clients but can be turned on...something to look into.

Yes it did exist. When NOS first started you had to patch from OSI servers and then shutdown razor after a certain number of patches.
