Perhaps in another four years or so the subject will be valid.
Currently your reward is not having to look at silly neon dayglo weapons and armor and paying upwards of 20 million gold for a house plot.
btw i have one of each ethereal in my custom house just for decoration. They can be locked down on a pedestal or table and look like a nice little unicorn or beetle statue, etc.
Also, most of the popular player shards don't even allow rideable mounts. They want everyone on foot so nobody has an advantage from a mount in pvp.
That's a stupid move for other shards todo. This game was not balanced on this rediculous 1vs1 restrictive gameplay that other games love to wrap people in. Someone on a mount keeping range between you and them? that's when you rely on a mage or archer friend.
Personally I liked the addition of bolas with Lord Blackthorn's Revenge. Solved this issue.

I plan on being here for at least a year, I love this game to much. I dont think we really need vet rewards, I think it would be cool to have some of those type items after doing a quest or an event or something. I.E. do quest a and get a black dye tub. Or like divinity, if you have x amount of trophies from particpating in events, you can turn them in for a varitey of items. I like how divinity did it, but it took 90 trophies, which came out to 900k gold to get one charge of black dye. I definetly dont want to see any of the neon crap, and all the crazy stuff they added, but black dye tubs (for example) were era accurate. But in the end, is even reall worth messing with?

all i wanted was t2a vet reward maybe instead of 1 year make it 6 months and the reason for 1 reward per acc is cause everyone has 3 accs...
it was just a suggestion i can live without the vet rewards lol

I don't have 3 accounts. 2-3 characters is enough for me. Someone might want those 3 rewards for one character.
I like hte idea of having them as quest rewards. As long as players who miss the event aren't excluded.

The town invasion in the first few weeks after the shard started...everyone that attended got a personalized statue with your name and the date of the invasion and such, a statue that can be locked down in a house. Now THAT is a great reward that will always mean something to me when i look at it. It also took the personal touch of a GM actually creating it for each attendee! Derrick was working so hard customizing each persons statue that he hit a wrong button and crashed the server and we started the invasion over lol! The memory of that will always stay with me.
I'd give up a hundred ethereals for that anytime.

It's reasons like that I left the official servers. With Lord British gone, there is no spirit in Ultima Online. It's nothing but Second Life in Britannia. Full of property gaining and people with 7 accounts each to build bloody houses. The wrong players fill that game's servers now.
However the veteran rewards are still a nice little trinket to reward players for dedicated service. There is no reason to feel that the personal statues you mentioned (and other related gifts) should be replaced or usurped by veteran rewards. They are two different things.

Im completely for vet rewards if they dont effect the game whatsoever. Anything that alters gameplay in even the slightest is unnecessary in my opinion. So yay for black dye tubs, nay for ethereals.

so put a follower limit on ethereals, or you can increase the delay to mount

Ethies wouldn't add an "unfair advantage" to this server. If you have a problem with people being able to res up and hop on a mount, that would mean you're intending to res kill them, and you shouldn't be playing UO anyhow. (unless they came back talking shit, then you can res kill them.

) By the time they find a wandering healer or hit the healer in town, you should have them looted and be gone anyhow.
But to not stray too off topic, Vet rewards would probably be the best thing to put in. I, personally, don't care if we get any or not. But I know it makes some enjoy the shard more, meaning a better chance of a player base...longer. And most want to be rewarded for their dedication.
Now I don't have the slightest idea of what should be offered for such rewards, but it's definitely something they'll have to throw up in a poll or hold a discussion if they decide to implement them.

Agreed

I disagree, anything that effects the game at all is an advantage, whether it's small or big. If I kill someone at bank and second later they're back trying to loot, that's unfair. They can also rereg faster then the people on foot. I'm not saying its a huge deal but its a difference to me.

yes but it is something that all players at one point may earn, just some will reach it before the others, which is where the seniority is awarded.. ;\

The advantage here is no different to a seasoned warrior in plate while my 60% swordsman runs around in leather.
It's an advantage ONLY when you CANNOT bring yourself to the same level. I can bring myself to wear plate eventually, or it might be an advantage I overcome with an advantage of my own.
