If that's the case, then every AFK Reagent Buyer that did it for months in Delucia should have been stopped...

^ That

Plus this is not "trapping" an NPC as you are not removing him from his business place, and the whole shard has access to him.

It is not as if you are sending him on a trip to the serpent's pillars. :/

I, for one, can't think of a more horrible situation than having to step 4 or 5 tiles outside your house to stable/claim pets.

I'm pretty shocked and disgusted by this thread.
The area was blocked because a player was in that house macroing the buying and stabling of rats. I of course did not know or care who the player was or who's house it was, but the accusation that this was a personal attack is way off base.

As Batlin noted, you shouldn't be able to stable from such a distance at all.

It was also observed that the NPC had become stuck in this location and was neither "<name> move"able nor enticeable in his position last night, which alone is justification for blocking the spaces, as we do this for spots that players (usually map problems) get stuck in as well.

I understand the initial rage, but this original post seems a bit excessive to me.

Way off topic, but this was done at the request of the guilds initially involved in requesting it be placed there.

Perhaps i'm wrong, but I just visited the Minoc stables to check and I fail to see how an NPC would be un-enticeable in that area unless there was a player there physically blocking the NPC. This has been allowed in previous instances in the Delucia mage shops and the Vesper mage shops to "lock" an NPC in a beneficial location for AFK buying and selling. I fail to see how this is any different?

At first glance, this appears to be a double standard.

I was not able to buy pets from the stable master at that distance, but using the stall/stable command worked just fine. Is era information on this available?

I've moved the NPC from that location many times, sometimes you need to tell him to move ten times or more, but he is definitely moveable.

I apologize for such a visceral thread title/opening. I was more or less halfway joking about how "mad" I was. I know GM's don't take things to the personal level, but the outcome of the actions taken have directly effected me in a negative way (and only me).

These newbs that reported this spent about 3 hours last night expressing their frustration toward me, during that three hours they made threats and nasty comments toward me, I spent most of that time defending my turf. After the newbs finally gave up on their crusade of to "get me in trouble/grief my animals" I was free to relax and go to bed.

Then I wake up to haystacks and a house that is worth 25% of what it was the night before.

I understand its a little mean to steal peoples stable slots like that, but in reality its one of the only ways to acquire spots, and is not illegal or game breaking in the slightest.

PS - Lightshade, The NPC is entice-able too, the problem is that the newbs were doing it the wrong way.

Can't speak specifically to that - never saw it, though I could guess what was going on. It's a slippery slope though, which kind of depends on the definition of "trap". If an NPC is trapped in one spot of his wander range, he's by definition not accessible in other places he should be. I thought this was the point of what I thought the policy to be.

It's kind of moot anyways though... if we accept that the GMs are impartial - which 3+ years on this shard has given me all the evidence in the world that this is the case - it's a policy decision. GMs put items like this in the world all the time in T2A. We don't know exactly where and when they did so. This is kind of my reasoning behind my opinion that stable slots would be increased if limits were hit so widely as they are here. I dunno, just my .02 as a somewhat outside observer.

?... I don't think anyone is calling Derrick a liar here.

On a different note, the guy who was trying to entice the NPC out of his comfy saddle corner was this guy.... http://my.uosecondage.com/Status/Player/171345

I assume he has 50 enticement, certainly not enough to move an NPC anywhere far.

Mike123, I would like to point out as well, that there are two stable hands at Minoc, one of which was not taking his unpaid lunch break beside the saddles.

Unfortunately, I do not agree with Derrick's response and am disappointed. :(

If I were to be shocked, appalled, or disgusted it would be that instead of talking to Derrick about it you decided to make a rage thread badmouthing him. Credibility is lost when you act like a child and are rude to someone who is always professional and whose generosity and time is why we are all here. I've said it before, the man has amazing patience. I would have banned 99% of you long ago. Team Derrick all the way.

Hey applejerk, the OP was not directed at Derrick at all. I do not know which GM placed the hay stacks nor do I really care. What I do care about is the fact that I was verbally harassed for about 3 hours last night over an in game dispute between players, and I logged in this morning to find gaystacks that axed the price of my ultra rare property.

For the record applehole, I have a lot of love for Derrick and I do what I can to contribute to the team. I did not mean for the thread to be perceived in such a negative way, but that is my fault for writing it in a negative frame of mind. I apologized for the nerd rage already.
