Im pretty confident that a TV ad or roadside banner would get a lot more people than internet advertising.

I disagree, this server will only attract a very specific and small portion of the PC gaming community. A mass marketing format like TV advertising would likely be very ineffective at attracting new players. The type of person who plays here is a subset of a subset of a subset of a consumer demographic, TV advertising simply does not offer a targeted enough marketing approach to effectively reach the demographic we're looking for. This server is not for the general population, and any attempt to bring them in is futile with our current support network.

Advertising on sites that cater to pc gamers who enjoy PvP or classic gaming would be infinitely more effective per dollar spent. Gaming networks and forums would be our best bet.

That being said, I think this server always has and always will ultimately rely on word-of-mouth. And we will have to accept that new-interest in the shard will start to slow down as UO becomes more and more of an distant memory for most people.
This server's population has more-or-less been constant for the last couple years, we should probably just be happy that players coming in roughly equals players going out.

Thats exactly my point, lets try going for another demographic. I think we can show a bunch of RPing screens and some PvP and PvM late night on TV and advertise to people who are sitting around watching TV at 2am, they can be playing UO instead of watching TV.
