Talks about how Pks should be total jerks...
complains they should be nice enough to gate...

"Things you have no use for can be dropped on the ground, if you have time. It's on me to get back in time to grab them before they disappear. If I didn't prepare to do so, my bad."
thing is, pks here don't always have time to sit around and worry about the bone armor, reactive armor scrolls and torches you have on your corpse. word can travel fast and the last thing you want is to be messing with items you don't even consider loot and dying deep in stat as a result.
as far as rezzing and leaving recall regs, if i have time, i do it. if i see a guy is REALLY new and like one ebolt kills him, i'll try to make sure he gets at least his mount back. the guy worked an hour to pay for it, ya know?
but if you're very new, OP, think of yourself as a snake or a mongbat. you're just being killed because you happen to be there. why bother looting?
also i do get what you mean about leaving regs, etc. i have lots of gold and regs and i would never leave a player i pk'd his regs, much less anything else of value. some of my boys will just leave a regbag with 100+ of each and i can't bring myself to do that. it adds up over time. it's just as much about the loot for me, as it is the killing. it's probably even more about you not having that loot anymore, if that makes sense.

Next thing we know PKs will be carrying special 'newb revival kits' with a bone suit some bandages and 25 each reagent.

To all the people calling the OP 'ridiculous', if you don't get it, you don't get it. Take your borderline trash talk elsewhere please.
To the OP: I dryloot, chop corpses and never res. Hopefully we can catch up soon when my new tank is done.

I went on a trip the day after posting that, sorry about the late replies.
To the ones suggesting that I am masochistic, I am not asking for my time in-game to be a worse experience, I am asking for it to be as exciting as it can be.
Risking significant loss in order in order to gain significantly, I think, is (or was) part of the excitement. I can't imagine anything a new player can bring anywhere, that can't be replaced with a few hours of gameplay. And then, avoided by better planning the next time.
---
For the ones who want to exact just punishment directly:
My bard is "Hira" - currently making a living on the third level of Hythloth, relying on recalling in to the center, elevated area. This is currently the only place where I can make a consistent profit, so this is where you want to kill me. For fun.
When I die here, I have a toon with a rune to just outside the dungeon, who is now able ressurect (earlier, she was only able to give recall-regs and a rune) a few tiles to the northwest of the entrance.
---
However, my appeal was to peekays all around, to
1) at least offer a gate to a town-healer
2) at least loot regs, gold, and other things you think are considered valuable by the victim
it's more fun that way

Excellent. I can't wait. :/

I've been subjected to the silent clean-loots, as well. It's enfuriating, and makes me more motivated to play.Calador wrote:Why not smile and thank lady luck that you haven't been completely clean looted and left to rot and keep quiet about it?
Thank you! Hope to see you soon./edit - sorry I forgot to say hello and that was rude of me. Welcome to UOSA, it really is as good as it used to be here.
See you in game!

I posted my toon's name now, but I can't see how it matters.Captain Awesome wrote: I've been dry-looted and left sitting as a ghost in a dungeon by PKs and haven't come to the board and complained, because it's part of the game. I'm not going to come to the board and beg them to do it though.
I agree with you in that being stuck in a dungeon, after not being offered any means to get to town, is not fun. I meant for that to be a main point. Make a fucking gate!
But as soon as you get a res in town, the things you have to do in order to get back in business, are not as boring or discouraging, as running back to civilization as a ghost.
Re: On PK etiquette, from a new player: a little harsher, pl
Ok, I chose the words for the subject line poorly. I am not particularly asking to be griefed, or encouraging griefing. Peekaying (and as a consequence, being peekayed) is part of why this ruleset is fun, no?LKP wrote:I've always PK'ed for my own fun and profit, not to ruin anyone else's day. It's especially pertinent now, when there are only so many players out there that a free shard like this can attract. The more people I drive to ragequit today, the fewer I can kill tomorrow. I apologize if you're a masochist and I don't ruin your day thoroughly enough, but it's my understanding that you're in the minority - most players would either not be pk'ed at all or, if they must be PK'ed, at least not be unnecessarily griefed.
Now, let's say I am struggling to accumulate some cash, in order to make a character that can fight back. All this in an area where it's known that you can make cash, so it makes sense that it's frequented. Then, whenever I see some murderous bastards pop up on my screen, it is not exciting if all I have to do is wait to be killed, ressed, have some gold removed, and carry on as I were.
However, make a fucking gate, is an appeal I am making. To a town, preferably to a healer. More fun for everyone.
Re: On PK etiquette, from a new player: a little harsher, pl
That's really not very cohesive. First of all, as a PK, why am I gonna carry around a town rune? So I can accidentally click on it and die instantly in deep stat? If you already have the rune on you, I'll consider it. But at larger issue is how you expect to be treated. Either a PK is going to be nice to you, or not. What kind of PK dry loots a victim and then gates him to town? If he's dry looting you, he's doing it to upset you. There's no other reason to take every item off a corpse unless everything you had was useful/valuable (and on newbies, it never is). If he's trying to be cruel, chances are he's not gating you out.
Re: On PK etiquette, from a new player: a little harsher, pl
I have found that there is pretty much no place in this game that you can't get out of with your newbied equipment, an optimistic spirit and proper knowledge of the game.

Re: On PK etiquette, from a new player: a little harsher, pl
Meh when I always got pk'd found the best thing to do was consider everything a loss, so I just immediately left, got a rez, and went about my business.
Pking for profit and the thrill of the kill; completely understandable.
Pking to just be a smatcktard seems completely counter productive, especially on these small servers.
