Thanks for your input jekkis and you may have some valid points, but it still comes back to getting new players in and keeping them here and the best way is having a chance to place something other than a small
And the housing market is based on players hording spots on multiple accounts therefor forcing the price up

Please explain to me how it is "the best way" - I don't think a player will quit here after accumulating 193k for a 2-story deed and then realizing he has to rack up another 20-44k to actually get the house?
I'm not arguing whatever the mechanic housing market is based on - as a matter of fact, I just stated in my previous post how the 15 house limit in fact serves to create such a market. How would you replace that market provided your change would go through? There are actually some people who make the bulk of their money on house transactions, they establish reputation, help the community by offering brokering services etc., so how is a new player having easier access to a larger house more important than the veteran players who like to do stuff like that?

Anyone who would even consider playing on a t2a server would know that not everything gets handed to you on a silver platter.
I like the house system the way it is. And I am a new player. You just have to work a little harder to get a bigger house.
The change you want also came with the Renaissance publish, so it would not be t2a accurate. I seriously doubt it will happen bro.

Still own the first 2-story house I placed. Saved the spot with a couple of smalls until I got the money and I was (and still am) as noob as they come. In UOSA, nothing is impossible!

there's a lot of housing space but to find them it requires you actually look rather than moan on forums.

^ Lol true that.
And people shouldn't complain about era accuracy when on OSI probably most players never made it past a small. There is plenty of room for you to replicate that.
Used to be lucky if you searched all day to find a small spot on Lake Sup. And you were ballin' if you had a nice small. The ring of smalls around Compassion shrine were all like 500k - 1 mill+ or unobtainable during the end of t2a period. Here you can place those smalls now if you wanted, for the price of a deed.
If anything it should be more like it actually was on OSI, with having a small house being an achievement rather than a right.

Yep I totally agree!! but lets look at the facts how many players on here? from the stats maybe 700-800 ? of that how many multiple accounts? 200 ?
How many played on LS ? maybe 3000 - 4000 ? did they have 3 accounts each ? did they have upto 15 houses ?

I'm not really following anymore: you agree that owning a small house should be an achievement, not a right, yet you complain that it's not easy for new players to get a house?
I'd like to return to what you originally stated, WHY this issue would need addressing? Because houses are sold for more than their deed cost? If that is the case, I'd like to know what exactly is the problem in that.
Should everything else be sold strictly at cost, too? Armor, weapons, reagents, raw materials, scrolls...and the list goes on.

Because owning a house is such a milestone ?

I understand that. I just don't see how is it a problem that it takes little extra effort to achieve said milestone. If it would be impossible to get a large house, then I'd agree with you on this. If a 2-story would be 4.5mil like on OSI, we'd definitely have an issue, but since nothing really is out of reach as things are now, I don't understand why this requires attention.
We have mechanisms in place, such as house decay, that allow people the chance to get a house without paying any extra. It's up to them to decide whether the time they invest in camping a decay costs them less than just buying a house in less than ten minutes and paying whatever they've negotiated the price to be. It does suck to see most of the houses empty, void of life, but I don't see how seeing empty land or more large (keep/castle) homes would be any better, especially when it comes at a cost of ruining an entire market.
Again, it might encourage new players more that they know they can place a house with just the deed cost - something that they can already do here with small houses. For a larger home, I still don't see how the extra cost is such a burden that they get disheartened and quit the shard 20k-44k shy of their goal. On the contrary, that should make the sense of accomplishment even more enjoyable, and thus better, for them. So in other words, the current system just makes accomplishing that milestone more satisfying. If you think the whole idea a bit further, that should serve as something that keeps players in here as they've worked hard to achieve what material possessions they have and know nothing is free should they decide to quit and come back.

Anyone have a house that I could use to train/macro in please? I won't be there super long just enough to get some skill gains and will be happy to help you once me and my friends get back on our feet.
Thank you - Fupa

As has been stated many, many times...housing is a great gold sink as it is.
The housing system has never been a problem. You can work up to the large house like EVERYONE else did.
No, you will not be given a large home just for participating.
Your desire for instant gratification and reward will be ignored...as pandering to that desire just creates a class of players that don't stick around and always want more and more for doing less and less.

I have recently rejoined UOSA and completely agree that the housing system is in fact perfect the way it is. As stated in this thread, after earning a few hundred thousand for a large deed, it is quite easy to keep going and buy a house on the ground. This also saves the headache of finding a location, which I enjoyed in OSI, but hate dealing with here. The only problem i see with this system is being forced to buy a placed castle, this allows for courtyard runes and the constant drag of locking/protecting your interior doors. Probably unavoidable anyways.
