i can hardly guess how much effort and time i put into that event. i had at least 10 hours on the first day and was able to snag the scale. however, it took 3 more days (probably an additional 24+ hours in game) to figure out how to get to the gloves. i really wouldn't say these were "given" out, i definitely put in the effort to earn them. that's all i will say about that.
