Yes, but the quoted patch note is late '97 too.

What happened was you would fill a pack llama with explode pots, and throw another explode pot at the llama, and it would detonate everything and blow anyone up around it as well as the llama. Yes it was chain reaction, and it worked in towns. By this working in towns and then the chain reaction being fixed in mid 98, the demo can not be correct in this aspect.

The patch for explosion potions setting off other explosion potions was a little later than I had previously thought.
10/1/98
Explosion potions no longer set off other explosion potions. We regret that our earlier post seemed to indicate that the explosion potion was changed only at the request of the City of Oasis, without input from other player sources. Reports from the City of Oasis on Sonoma, which was suffering from terrorist bombs during their periodic Fight Nights, and subsequent support from other player commentary brought this issue to our attention. Please note that the explosion potions were never intended to be instant-kill tools. From now on, explosion potions will only detonate themselves
This obviously works since the last compilation of the demo is around August of 1998. The damage from the potions is absolutely zero in town though. Llama bombs would have only worked before 10/1/98 unless there was a bug of some sort past that which would trigger the potions.

So, dragons wield magic weapons that have firebreathing on them? Do rats and snakes?

Dragons to not wild weapons, as I've explained quite plainly elsewhere the "breath weapon" is a special attack. This isn't something we make up, 100% accurate.

and yes, lava snakes too.

lol Marus is seriously on a campaign to rid the world of tamers. I think you'll have better luck just quitting the server and finding something else to waste your life on.
