Not trying to defend the practice, just saying the buyer had plenty of opportunity to verify the product and back out.
It is a scam in the spirit of the word, but not by the rule unfortunately.

your assuming i knew it had to be blank, i told you i died with it and you never raised question as to whether i used it or not. I had no idea it had to be blank. Newbie move by both myself and you.

Did you offer to refund the money? If not it's more than just a newbie move by you.

I'm all for tough business aspects and such, but this takes the cake. As a personal feeling, I feel a deal such as this leaves a negative impact on the trade forums itself. His forum join date is 2010, and claiming being a "Newbie Mistake" is absurd. What newbie is aware of newbie keys to begin with, and if the said individual is aware of a newbie key, he is also aware of the implications with the use of said key.
I feel the only option without people attempting such practices in the future is to offer a refund or accept a forum ban.
My 2 cents...

And yet he blames it on an "honest newbie mistake".
Might not be forum banned but I won't be trading with him anytime soon

Where were all the people who wanted a newbie blank key when I wanted to sell one?
I've still got it, but the price has to be right (2 patio deeds was my requirement for a min bid)

Wow this is wrong on so many levels. If you had no idea then you should refund his money. Technically he didn't say it was blank but it should be a given.
This is why everyone hates lawyers.
