Ya, of course. I think the OP should be valuing silver however he wishes because a gf'ed mask is a sought after item from trammelites.

Collecting 500 silver is not easy. I have payed between 14-16k and purchased around 800. *shrugs*

It definitely HAS gotten easier since Christmas, but Eagle statues are still regularly selling for 152k and silver was recently approaching 20k per coin. Sitting on your gold and buying 4-10 coins at a time so that you can pay marginally less does not make silver less valuable - the time spent checking forums and waiting means you're probably worse off in the long run.

Liquidfire/Pirul, can I buy 200 silver off each of you please? I'll offer 15k per.

Oh what.. you won't sell?

But it's worth 14k per coin!

Lol, thanks for the offer but im not sellin, ive been offered 16-18k per but i have this feelin the second i sell for more and try and buy more for less it will dry up, im just gonna keep doing what i do, that is save my gold slowly and hope someone sells to me for less than 15k, it happens from time to time, but very rarely. I just have this issue with Silver Coins trying to be sold for 18k+ each and theres more than ever since i joined. Laws of supply and demand apparently dont pertain to silver coins.

I agree with this.. Liquid pmed me telling me my silver wasn't worth anything. :(

Then Bee pmed me telling me my bear rug was like a new car, depreciates in value. I fail to see how an intangible object depreciates in value by say a mil uo pixel gold.

Eo, your logic is sound.

Don't want to send this to trash talk, I'll just post my observations as of late here.

1.- Right after christmas I bought 18 statues for prices ranging from 100k to a large brick per. Never paid over a large brick for any of them. This was all while my computer was broken and I had 0 (zero) access to UOSA. You can ask Lightshade or Rammar how many they bought for me and what they paid for them.

2.- I know someone who was paying patio per and bought 60 in the days after christmas. Maybe he knew where it was "easy" to find silver. Maybe he just put his back into it.

3.- The fact that up until recently I've been buying means I intend to spend it, and thus won't sell.

4.- How much did that bear rug end up selling for? You can sell items for their equivalent in silver value. However you'll need to find the right buyer for it. The person who wants a bear rug (for example), and doesn't have the willingness to spend time buying the silver, and is willing to pay top exchange rate for it. There are many instances I can remember of items selling for under silver value...but then again, I am probably wrong because you sold your bear rug for 3 mill.

I dont remember saying your silver wasnt worth anything boondock, sorry if i did, silver is worth something, but not anything over 15k/gp, in my opinion, and thats all it is, is my opinion.

if an individual is not willing to sell an item for equal to or less than x amount, does that imply that the item is worth more than x amount?

I don't think this is necessarily the case, look at the polar bear mask for example. I think one could offer it's owner 100mil and she/he would not sell it. Perhaps because of the complete inability to reproduce the item, the guy just won't ever sell it. So what would that say about its value? Nothing, in my opinion.

Is valuing an item based on observations of transactions the best way to put value to an item? I think so. But even with this being said, there are players here with many pieces of gold saved up that perhaps just want a chance to buy silver in bulk. This could cause us to see trades that go past 17 per, and give a bad perception of the relationship between silver outstanding (for sale) and the people who want to buy it. This could also be an argument for silver being a special type of good, that is worth more the more you have. That would explain why people pay more per piece for large amounts.

for instance, I recently bid on 60 silver and won it at 14k per. Rammar also placed a bid, but did not go over my amount. I was surprised. If silver is so in demand, why did none of the rare addicts outbid me immediately? This could be luck, that no one noticed, but the bid stuck for 24 hours. Strange.
