I've been pretty busy so I'll check back as often as possible in the next couple days as the bidding begins to wind down. That said, I have received a private bid of 1.5mil gold on the helm, bringing the total number to beat to 3mil! Additionally, I am setting a minimum bid increment of 50k from here out. Again, thanks to everyone involved!

Absolutely understandable...in a perfect world there would be no private bids. BUT, due to the fact that I won the vast majority of my items in the past by slamming a (seemingly) hefty bid via PM or IRC, I can't exactly knock it.

Pro tip for other people getting into the rares market - When a couple(or few) people are inching bids up publicly in an auction, PM the seller and offer a buyout that is much more than the current low-ball/bidding war offers the others are submitting. Your seemingly high private offer - while still less than the overall value - seems to jump out at the seller and quite often will result in the OP agreeing to that price. Not entirely applicable to this auction in its current stage, but it should work for others.

I received a private buyout offer on the helm of 2mil gold. That is far more than I expected out of this auction so I'll be accepting that. Alex, I feel kinda bad since your WTB post was the sole reason I chose to auction this but 2mil is a very good offer and hard to refuse.

Wow, considering the last one sold for a castle deed and took time to get there. It's pretty incredible how this item doubled in price. I swear we need a gold-sink for the ultra-rich in this game.

Furthermore, as I do have some money I bid 1.55 million on the shield.

A couple of months back I bought my orc helm for a keep deed. Sold that one for profit, then got another. Nice to know it tripled since.
