UO Second Age

I want skill balls, glacier colored Lord British suits, and invul pots that you can use when you are getting ganked and can still recall out without being harmed. Oh and secure bags that you can put all your good stuff in incase you don't have an invul pot handy. kthx.

This isn't about the game getting stale its about a NON Era Accurate time creating a screwed up economy thus making it harder for newer players to establish themselves and break into our community. When this could be fixed with Era Accurate avenues.

Az, through all of our disagreements at least admit your wrong here. When CoS was active I fielded every single night. Even when they werent active and I had time, I logged on and fielded. The last time I was able to long on for a long period of time I was at the GY on Sexyfine fighting Robbb, Guerilla, Toto, and a few others. I think just about anyone that plays a lot sees me field, so that right there is bullshit. For a while there I did nothing but field. But when your guild stops playing, and you dont have much time, fielding by yourself isnt much fun is it? I dont really play anymore anyways, but when I do, I still like to go out and field. Say what you want because you and me obviously dont see eye to eye, but go watch pvp videos, screen shots, etc; Im in a decent amount of them fielding. If all of TG quit, and you didnt have another guild to join, AND you were quite busy irl, Im sure we wouldnt see much of you either. But then again, I never really saw TG much even when I was playing a lot before my son was born in August.


Sorry to derail, but, anyways, point is, heres UOSA for pretty much every type of player. Duelers duel at a tower or mym. Fielders field at the GY and run back and forth, idocers wait around for hours, and pvmers tame dragons and stack loot, or provoke mobs and stack loot. The orcs are gone, the pirates are gone, theres no other type of group out there at the moment, except theives and they may as well be in the same group with fielders. I like to duel, I like to field, I enjoy them both for different reasons. The thing is, every field fight is at the GY. And all the pks that run around the dungeons trying to find someone to kill get lucky once in a while, but whens the last time you saw someone farming earth eles at shame, or even air eles for that matter? I havent seen someone in a regular lich room in Deceit since Ive been back and the bone knight wall used to be one of the most popular spawns in the game, but why bother when you can hire a palladin and just macro it in 1 night? If people go to deceit its for LLs. Whens the last time anyones done any Hytloth hunting except for Balrons. And when is the last time anyones even gone to Despise to hunt something. I miss being able to go into a dungeon and have fear others may come to try to kill me, or even better me fight others for a spot. I wish we could implement something to get people out there in the dungeons again. Screw the neon stuff, the rewards, or whatever, but is there something we can do to make dungeons popular again, or any spawn for that matter? I used to LOVE going to the Orc fort outside of Delucia, and even the one at Cove, but why bother now? No one goes there. This game has a limited fan base and population, I get that. But, theres ways to make people go out and fight at other spots other than going to Balrons and casting EVs or provoking. Or going to Elder Gazers all the time.

By the way, the economy isnt screwed up, this game is so easy to make money on its a joke. The problem is that no one is really doing anything anymore, people hunt at maybe 5 spawns in the entire game, the rest are all dead.

No. No. No. It is NOT difficult for new players to establish themselves and break into the community. If anything, it is too easy to establish yourself, especially in terms of skill gain and wealth accumulation. As far as breaking into the community, IMO the community is extremely welcoming, on a per capita basis. Only issue there is that the community would be better, obviously, if it was bigger. Which gets us back to the OP .........

Neither is the fact that players have powerful PCs, high speed connections, or don't pay for the game. The fact is, you're pointing out things that are not within the purview of mechanical accuracy, or are things that are functionally necessary to run the server. This does not mean that because we can't create flawless era accuracy, that we have the latitude to make whatever changes that anyone wants.

Well, I'm curious, Kaivan, but more importantly road kill and blaze, do you guys have any ideas to get more people out hunting and in dungeons etc? I know we've already asked your ideas on population but what in game ideas do you have for getting people out of their macro house and into a dungeon?

Its easy to get gold and establish yourself yes. But when you talk about top tier items or valuables its incredibly hard to break into. When you have items going for 20 - 30 - 70 mil. If you think dropping the value of housing/neon hair dye/sandals/bless deeds etc would hurt the community you are crazy. Giving people more obtainable item goals would get people more active everywhere. If you think thats silly to think people play to obtain pixels or other goals then why does the population increase when there are christmas giveaways?

Regardless people would feel more at ease and more ambition to play if the staff atleast "pretended" to care or didn't answer every comment with a stern ERA ACCURACY NO. Every person on this server walks on egg shells to even make a post to improve anything and has 0 hope anything will ever happen.

I understand the server cares more about the "type" of player rather than the population. But if you think its reaching its potential within era accuracy your wrong. Again the staff does not care and I honestly believe they would feel relieved if the server just flat out died. As we are more of a bother than enjoyment.

Anyone can follow in Vegas footsteps and get rich idocing as long as the population continues to dwindle. This doesn't help keeping the uo food chain alive. A little incentive for folks to hit the dungeons would help newbs and vets alike, and would spice up the current blight of blandness uosa is suffering from. In all honesty, I hit all the farming spots in this game and at the very best see the same 4-5 people. I too find it hard to believe there are 250 people logged in. They must all be looking for idocs.

It took me about 6 hours of farming using EV scrolls to get about 350k. If you knew what you were doing and how to play the game or knew anything about UO you wouldn't have even posted this.

The population dips because people get bored of the game because we have real life things going on. The population of a server isn't 10,000 anymore where 3,000 people are online all at the same time and there is always something to do. Here it gets stagnant and boring sometimes. You have to make your own fun and the pussies that just want shit to be easy in life, that's probably why they still live in their parents basements like Hazy, quit because there is nothing for them to do.

So I will just assume you live in the basement too....

I can only answer for our general role, and my own personal opinion, but there are two points to be made. First, we have repeatedly said that UO is a world and that the purpose of this world is to let players interact with each other and the world at large without interference from the administration. This means that we cannot and should not constantly drum up interest in various areas of the game by holding events or changing the mechanics to be more appealing to a specific group of players in order to get them out of their houses. By and large, the way that the game plays, and the enjoyment that is derived from the players as a result of that is wholly on them. That said, point two is that we do rarely run events such as the current ongoing event with the gem encrusted creatures in order to provide an occasional break from the normal, but it should not and cannot be viewed our job to do this on a regular basis.
