I've been doing a ton of business on this shard recently and so far EVERYONE I HAVE DEALT WITH has been fair and honest and nobody once has tried to scam me. Players like Dyne, Fagabeefe, Bixby, and a slew of others. All straight up honest and pleasant in their dealings. And that's exactly the kind of culture we should be promoting instead of paving the way for cheats and scammers with retarded fkn platitudes about how "this is UO" and pretending like their actions are anything more than what they are, which is morally reprehensible.

You are totally missing the point, and totally wrong, in my humble opinion.
People arent "condoning" it. But they are in support of A) Shard Accuracy and B)UO Freedom. Back in 1999(which is the year this shard strives to be a copy of) if you were scammed, would a GM help you as long as it was within the rules and no one was impersonating a gm? No, they wouldnt. They would tell you to be more careful with your shit. Unfortunately this is Pre Trammel UO. This is what happens. Are we supporting a scam? No. Are we supporting the FREEDOM TO SCAM? Yes.
Also, I never said everyone tries to scam. I said everyone GETS scammed at one point or another, even if its just buying an empty spell book from a vendor after reading that it was a full spell book. Its part of the game. Depending on the amount of money, it usually makes the person very angry and upset, and rightfully so. But they can either do 1 of 2 things, move on from it and keep playing, or cry and moan about it. Im sorry for the guy, hence my offering of a small deed. I also dont mind a post about whoever the person was that scammed him so that way its a warning to others. But to rant on about how its bullshit and this community needs to stand up blah blah, is just another way of saying "Wahh I fucked up and trusted the wrong mofo and my pixels are gone, wahh." Im sorry for your/his loss, I really am, but dont quit because of it, otherwise your not going to last here anyways, many worse things can and WILL happen.

I full agree with this...Just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean its the right thing to do, but you gotta also figure, most of these guys would be out raping women and killing people if they wouldn't get in trouble for it. It's the type of person that UO brings, the people that have nicer tendencies are on other games such as WoW or on server's that are roleplaying or trammellized. It's just the way it is and probably why the population is down to 200, but let them play how they want, soon enough there will be noone left to scam except each other, then they will realize they are either done with UO and wanted to ruin it for everyone else before they quit anyway or that maybe they should have helped the next guy instead of scamming him and they would still be playing.

Gosh, I guess I've just been really, really lucky. I mean I keep *hearing* about all these cheats and scammers and assorted scumbags, but I never wind up dealing with them. Everyone I've done deals with so far has been absolutely great. Maybe it's because I do all my business here on the forum where people have reputations to consider, or maybe forums just attract a better class of people (like the literate, LOL!)

Anyway, I think Vega's enemies just smear him out of jealously. The guy's like some kind of superplayer, all over the game, all over IRC, the forum, frkn EVERYWHERE raking in $$$. Even yesterday he was in near the lead for gathering Halloween treats. But whatever, he puts in the time and energy to do all that, so he reaps the rewards. His detractors are welcome to do the same instead of all this pathetic whining. All they manage to do is make him more famous.

I've been scammed a few times and I didn't get all pissy about it. Most recently losing a 2-story deed at the architects to a scammer. I have never scammed anyone and would prefer that there was no scamming I guess but it is not "TRULY APPALLING" to suggest that LEGAL scamming is acceptable. I just disagree with that premise. Don't be such a puss and don't act so outraged. Nobody here is diddling your cat for crissakes.

I believe the players deemed "rich" really have no interest in the player population growing or declining. They have collected all the pixels they care for, and only remain because their "status" they have achieved here gives them a sense of relevancy that is difficult to walk away from. (I'm not saying they're irrelevant outside the game it is just likely they're a lot more "accomplished" in-game). So therefore, some (or many) of these veterans will likely continue to behave in ways that negatively impact the population of this server. To them, it makes no difference if there are 150 people or 450 people online.

I see this attitude of "OMG let them leave they wouldn't have been able to cut it anyways, stupid f***ing carebear!" but that very attitude is what is tarnishing this server. Just because you CAN be a douchebag/thief/pk/scammer/house hoarder/stable filler/etc in this game, it doesn't mean you have to. But it sure seems that many that remain here have chosen this path.

At first I was like "douche" but the more I think about it you need to ween some of those people off the teets of the NEW guild.

Btw, I have to say just to make my stance known here. I have no issue with scamming, it sucks, but its UO, it happens.
HOWEVER, I DO have issue with someone offering $6gs for one of his buddies pixels and then go and pretend hes innocent when calling gms AFTER his buddy handed his tower over.
Yea, I know, going back to that, but just to be clear, theres differences between a legal scam and just a shady illegal attempted bullshit scam.

I will say something. I had been recalling around chopping trees dropping the boards in the bank. I always hide before and after recall. I had it automated so I can just sit back and watch. I am not lying, Vega sat at that Bank in the area running around all night and logged back in in the morning. It took him all that time to attempt to block my recall spot. I had an alt drop off more supplies. I hid on my alt. 3 others joined vega on the roof one at a time to block my recall spots. I just switched the targeted Rune to another Bank but I was fascinated all that time and trouble to finally get the nerve to do this and hanging out at a scarcely populated bank really made me want to question the man's sanity. This was not a populated city. I am just wondering what kind of things goes through one's head running around NuJel'm when absolutely no one is there all freaking night.

He was somehow confused, and because I flickered on screen for a half second to bank not seeing me recall in he was running around trying to find me calling me a Haxxor.
