Regardless, a single line comment isn't worth picking a fight with the players. This just adds more friction between the players and the staff.

It's the people like MV that go on a 30 minute tirade of spam, swearing, emo bullsh*t, that should be perma-banned.

Some friendly banter is not ruining the shard. Over-regulation is not the answer.

You are using the term friendly rather loosely. One would think you would need to be friends with the person first. I am all for whatever middle ground is decided works best. Just be advised if your middle ground causes someone to go off the handle both parties are gone.

The benefits of player involvement through drama and ego-building are too great. Irc and forums give people a "public" platform to beat there chests and showboat a little. It's all in fun and anyone who takes internet bullying serious...shouldn't.

My argument is that if you're not going to take measures to clean up in-game content (and by god please don't) then why bother to create a false environment whereby to shelter people? I mean, why aren't the game rules mirrored in the main / default community portals and the secondary channels be created for people as an escape?

I had to re-read to see if I missed something, saying a guy couldn't even kill 3 newbs or whatever the hell is not bashing, especially if it is true. Discussing in-game on-goings such as field PvP and whatever is not trash talk. I didn't see hifi saying "F* Vega you suxxors newb mofo, go die you f*g*t"

That's a fairly good point. Though, keeping the forums more civil has some positive side effects regarding Google visibility as Derrick has pointed out in the past. IRC isn't "publicly visible" so what happens in Vegas...

Now, on the topic of trash talk.. I believe it should allow any in-game trash talk all you want. It's when punks like Azheman and a few others has crossed the line, and have told another player to go end their life or some other irl bullshit is when the shit should hit the fan. Like talking about Hazy's child or some shit that I've seen in other threads, that's uncalled for. It's none of anyone's business.

Yes, I have said a few things that have totally crossed the line, but that was after the fact that I've been provoked by multiple people about shit that is totally irrelevant to UO.. I'm pretty sure this whole ban trash talk on irc all started because irl shit was mentioned.

On that note; keep shit in-game!
