Shards not gonna die, old UO players are getting older and doing other things with their lives besides playing video games. UO has a steep learning curve, I know when I try to get people to start playing UO it's a pain in the ass just to explain what razor is. There are lots of ways to advertise but I don't see anything effective being done or attempted. Derrick or a GM should lay a list of proposed advertising outlets, let the shard vote which one to pick, then set up a life bar on the home page just like the donation one but for our advertising goals.

When it looks like the man at the top has mentally checked out in regards to the shard, it shows in both the website and in the shard itself. Got a suggestion? Be prepared to be swatted on the head with a newspaper and chastised about it not being era accurate.

To be fair to Derrick, he was on IRC last week while switching servers. Or something along those lines. He chatted for a bit. Maybe not as involved as he once was he still cares, as he wanted to move things to better platform.
I think these upcoming events will spice things up, lots of players coming back and the current players enjoy things.

Though im a nobody to most if not all of you, I do have something to say about the decrease in population n the so called "decline" of our server. I started playing this game when i first came out and fell in love with it. Played throughout my teenage years for 4 years or so into the Renaissance expansion. I found this server through a friend who told me about it. I immediately joined up! I started June of 13 i think and played for about 8 months or so. Here's the important part. In my time as a "Noob" I found it almost impossible to raise skill due to players "Pking" or "Griefing" during grinding. Not complaining about that just saying that would turn away people who have no knowledge or love of this game. The housing market....Awful. Safe to say there are 3-5 major IDOC hoarders. These guys arent fools, they've mastered the art of hiding reds n porting in guildies to make it impossible to camp an idoc, Thus turning players away from bothering to camp IDOC knowing that they will lose more by trying then gain. The Rare market is the same as Housing. 3-5 major "Hoarders" who sell em overpriced as is, Given, rares are one of the main reasons i played. That along with lack of updates or even (shall i say) "Events" has pretty much caused the downfall of what once was a game i literally lost sleep over. Im sure your all saying "Who the fu#k cares what this guy thinks" Well i can tell you after putting in tons of days, weeks, hours into building my rare collection and leveling my characters grinding the gold i needed to properly train my other classes. the 3.8 mil i had made in the time i played all went down due to missing my log in refresh by 1 hour...Lost everything..Safe to say i no longer play this game anymore..Not because i lost everything but because i had to go thru so much to get it.. (rude players, scams, pks, griefing) and even being slaughtered in my own house over n over n over by my neighbor (7xgmRed) when i could barely wield a sword. Im not a newb anymore an still have the capabilities to continue playing this game, but the lack of players around to even by mats n the decline of interest or events joined by the 3-5 dominant players who you can never get close to matching due to some sort of favoritism or as i found out thru a long time n hated player that they buy there gold with real money along with homes n weapons. I love this game but it not only has basicly died but only appeals to the grandfathers of this server thus making it a turn off to new players. I keep my eyes on these forums looking for a reason to log back in and rebuild my hard earned empire but if there's no one on to buy things from or hell even help..I don't see a reason to give it another shot..

Mistiq, much like your alternate capital lettered name, your inability to split sentences into paragraphs makes your post impossible to read and thus worth nothing.

I completely agree with this. Eventually most people figure out "era accurate" is just lip service. Plenty of non era accurate stuff implemented, plenty of era accurate stuff that has been brought up that has just gotten buried because it didn't pertain to PvP.

If you feel that there is anything that hasn't been addressed that is a matter of era accuracy (either removing or adding something), please point it out in the Suggestions & Era Accuracy forum.
