Who actually knows that this was in fact a bug to begin with? How do you know OSI didn't impose this solution onto the ledge for a specific reason? There were many locations in several different areas that had bugged LOS issues similar to this on Baja.

Only thing i think is wrong is that liches on the bottom shouldnt have LOS of you unless you're on the first row of tiles.. they can hit you even on the 3rd and 4th row, from the bottom part of room now i believe

faust. the reason the bug was there on osi was probs a problem with the pacific tileing on my old harddrive i have a screenshot of my gm somehow getting into the bottom empty bit of it.
i think the reason the tiles act this way is because its a bad build and is hollowed out in the middle with no floor tiles much like the reason you got this targeting bug in the star room.

LL room wasn't a freaking bug, lol..
Think about exactly what had to happen code wise for the LL room to act in the manner it does now compared to acting "normal". Not to mention the fact of how long it existed in this manner.
People want this shit changed just so they can gank a few more farmers? Give me a break.

That's how I feel about it. The game had this feature in it up to 2008 according to Loops, which I would trust is accurate (Anyone got an EA 14 day free trial?). I don't consider the ledge to be a bug, it's part of the game, it's how it works, how it was, and probably how it still is.Faust wrote:Who actually knows that this was in fact a bug to begin with? still though, unless someone can find or come up with a valid reason for your LoS to be blocked in that area apart from IT MAKES IT BALANCED SO TAMERS CAN ESCAPE or ITS ERA ACCURATE i think it should be removed. regardless of its accuracy, it doesnt make any sense and is **, especially when you watch people try and fight up there.

The ledge in the LL room is fine. It's still very easy to get PK'ed down there. Besides, it is Era Accurate the way it is.

Replicating era accuracy for the t2a '99 time period is the goal of this shard.
The ledge functioned like this during that time for Ultima Online and the same will hold true here.
PS
Also, about the tamer comment.. It is actually quite the contrary, because tamers griped about this addition when it was added. Pets can cast/fire breath from down below previously until this ledge was fixed making their pets easy targets for a lone individual to throw up an EV.
Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
Is there anything that suggests that the lich lord room wasn't just bugged during t2a?
You guys screaming accuracy need to realize that not everything was completely perfect and not everything was working as intended. If it were, absolutely nothing would have ever changed.
I'm sure Faust has patch notes somewhere that say that the Lich Lord room is intended to be a buggy pile of garbage.
Maybe it was just a bug that was never fixed because other things took priority? If there's no proof that it's actually supposed to suck, fix it.
You guys place way the hell to much on the assumption that OSI coders got everything exactly right and everything was exactly as intended in the original demo.
No coders ever in the history of gaming have been able to say that. If they never got around to fixing something during t2a that they wanted to fix but it was just on the back burner, it's not necessarily innaccurate for us to make those corrections here.
Is the goal here to have a functional t2a server with everything working as it did in the demo? or to have things working as they were intended to work during t2a?
I couldn't imagine that the coders intended for the lich lord room to work that way.

Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
This has been stated to you several times now...
This server 'REPLICATES' the t2a era game mechanics that existed up to a target date towards the last patch of '99.
I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand...
Nobody "claims" that OSI coders got anything right. We know for a fact that a lot of their code was simply a pile of crap. This has no barring on the goal of this shard though. This server is about replicating the only aspect of the era that is possible to replicate. There is no possible way to replicate your, the next person's, or even my t2a experience. Only a time machine can accomplish that.
There are plenty of shards out there that "replicate how they think the pre:uor era" should be like.
We are not one of them.

Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
So you are aiming to replicate an era where alot of the coding is terrible by your own admission, rather than to replicate the era in a manner in which it was intended to work. Why the hell would you do that?Faust wrote:This has been stated to you several times now...

Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
Why do people play pre:t2a, pre:uor, uor, pub16, and aos shards?
Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
other shards have tried to 'fix' uo. That ends up in fail.Sultani19 wrote:So you are aiming to replicate an era where alot of the coding is terrible by your own admission, rather than to replicate the era in a manner in which it was intended to work. Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
Well then we should add a server line across the bridge in bucs den that makes you not be able to target a spell if you loaded it before you ran across it.
Also, it should be bugged so badly that sometimes it duplicates players on your screen and makes you see 3 or 4 of them at once.
That's accurate so it should be here, right? Doesn't matter how absolutely terribly bad and bugged it is as long as it's accurate, right? So implement that. Just one example of how terrible complete accuracy is. Why haven't you argued for that being put in Faust? Maybe because it completely sucked like that? Doesn't matter. It's accurate. should be put in by your rationale even if it makes the game play way worse.

Re: How about we fix the lich lord room in deceit?
Server boundaries was lines that divided a shard among several different servers. This shard is ran on one server unlike in that situation. If it was physically possible it would be added. The front page of the web site clearly states that we are replicating accuracy with the exception of our technical limits. I would be glad to have server boundaries if it was possible.
