Or how about doing a high level chest and opening it to where you wish to unleash the beasts...entice or peacemake with them and obstrue them from leaving a given area

Enticement works exactly as you think it would. Monsters don't disappear if they go too far from their spawn point. Methinks some of the folk here haven't actually used the skill.

You can entice everything that isn't a person or an NPC and I might be wrong about the latter.

Get Magery and Resist.

It does sound like a cool idea if you can pull it off.

Keep im mind you cant get anything out of dungeons or across dungeon levels. Same goes from t2a to the old lands... (well, do unmounted animals come with if you use the sea teleport?)

So popping chests would be a good way to get some bad ass spawns out in the open. then again... how you get only one of these creatures to come with you while the other are trying to kill you will also be interesting!

eidt* have you tried enticing something across a server boundry? That is a classic UO hang up for animals.

How do you plan on directing your boat if you have any magic casting animals on board? Entice, say boat command, hide?

Sounds like a real pain in th a$$ to me!

Have fun!

If you put up obstacles between yourself and the creature and continually entice it...the enticement lasts until the creature comes in contact with you I believe. You may have to stack numerous tables or chests in order for them not to demolish them if not I don't know. It sounds like a thrill ride for sure.
Noone seems to have done it, I am willing to give it a try. Though I have alot of chars I started already. This one sounds fun.
I know you can't entice up stairs, through teleports, or gates. But last time I went to valour isle I saw like three silver serpents right when I recalled there, all in one spot. People said you couldn't tame then and I began to think...how could you use such creatures. That's where I came up with this idea.

From what I've done with enticement, it doesn't last until they reach you. It might last until they reach the spot you first used the skill, though.

Also, yeah it might work with t-map creatures, but other spawning monsters will teleport back to their spawn point if they don't have PC interaction.

 GL figuring that mystery out.

You cant entice anything that is in combat. The moment you get near a silver serpant and try to entice it, it will forget the enticement and attack you. That information in the guide is for the wrong "era" of enticement, hence it's referance to 1 second delays.

/You guys are all copycats.

:P mimicry maybe close to flattry but many failed attempts lead to unique innovation

Enticement was mainly used to kill NPC's by luring them out of the guard zones. It became a great way to make money and magic items right before and after UO:R. It was mainly used to kill Nobles and Seekers of Adventures without having to escort them. It would not be very profitable here since you actually make more by escorting a noble than if you were to kill it outright. I also haven't seen any magic on them. My husband and I learned about it from the Japanese and when we started a new shard would do it to make money starting out.

It's also good I believe to entice the mounts of rather dead individuals and hide them before their return...or to entice a lone creature slowly leading them to another to provoke without suffering from it's wrath at hearing dark aged heavy minstrel tuneage to anger them to lead them there.
But I believe there maybe other uses as well...

Try this: Cast gate, stand behind the gate, hide (invis items are good), use skill enticement on your monster of choice. If you succeed, the monster will walk through the gate to your destination. Yes, you can gate them out of dungeons, yes you can gate healers into dungeons. I don't know if this is intended or not.. maybe we should move this to the bug forum. This is how Matron has been griefing hell hounds and other areas for the last week.

She griefs Hell Hounds lol I know what you mean.
Why would this be a bug it allows more environment interaction...and can make for very interesting game play. Some people don't give the Matron enough credit methinks.

No, don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. I mean I would love to be able to gate a dragon to my house and tame it there instead of a dungeon.. Or fill up a "friend's" house with poison elementals. If this is accurate, which I hope it is, then I will definitely enjoy it. I just don't know if it *is* accurate. Faust? haha
