I remember getting on a boat with 3 healers, while 5 of my guildies casted summon demon. Ahh the good old days!

Or how about trapping a Wisp in your house and training resist like that?

Those were the good times.

Outside of bugs, I don't think that there was a way to avoid spell damage in town. This was one of the reasons why GM resist was so impossibly hard to get- a flamestrike would hose you. With all of this time on this shard that people have been able to macro resist/magery, I'm not sure what the best route would be.. For my part, I decided to make a dexxer to just avoid that bs. It's amazing how much allowing macroing makes a difference in the skills out there. It used to be that it would take a long time to get a bunch of GM's. Now, if you have the gold, you can GM most things without too much trouble. I was always for macroing stats, but skills are a bit different.

just thought I'd show this to. In his description he talks about how much you have to heal and when. Just showing again you need to take damage to gain resist and it wasn't just 1 damage :)

also the only resist gaining bug I knew about that lasted actually quite awhile was the bladespirit bug. Casting a bs on a floor above you which would attack you but only deal magic damage not melee damage through the floor.

spell damage in town = no afk macroeing, simply put.

Now the above equation is a bitch with the addition of slow skill gain.

not that hard and cheaper than casting gheals is just grab a different char, buncha bandages, set macro to heal and fs (granted your timer might be slower on recast of fs but not a whole lot and can still do your afk)

Through out this era there was no spell damage in town. 0 damage. This is a replica shard so I imagine it would be that way. Remember everything in this game is connected, and that is what made this era of UO the best and the most balanced. This is why we all loved it so much. When I was playing my mage in 98-99 did I wish that spell damage in town worked? Damn right I did. But it didn't and there was a reason for it. There is a reason for everything in this era that made it work so well.

make it the way it was and it will be balanced :)

I'm all for accuracy, but don't delude yourself that accuracy brings balance. There are many things about the Second Age era that were not balanced.
