Sounds like no intervention should have happened. Why is this any different than blocking house placement with ghosts?

You just end up on the closest piece of land...which can be some interesting areas... No different then when your boat decays out at sea and then you log in.archaicsubrosa77 wrote:On a side note what does happen if you log off on a ship, yours or not and it is moved. Is your log in destination the ship or the area in which it is located? Having Never logged off on a ship before I have not the foggiest myself. And what happens if you are mid sail during last save...does the ship continure on forward if you do not stop it and log back in soon?
The character was kicked for packet flooding. I did everything I could to get your attention before doing this. The packet spam was without any delay and beyond reasonable. Had it been slower I'd have not gotten involved.ganzomanolo wrote:Now i demand why did the gm kicked me?

I recognize that we have overlooked this in the past, but I have not previously seen this go on at these speeds for this length of time.
ok i will put some delay the next time.Derrick wrote:The character was kicked for packet flooding. I did everything I could to get your attention before doing this. his packets were what, 0.0034% of what the server receives? Why was this an issue?ganzomanolo wrote:ok i will put some delay the next time.Derrick wrote:The character was kicked for packet flooding. PS: hyppogrif had my same delay but wasn't kicked!
Quick question in regards to this; players who macro herding, musicianship, or snooping without delay would technically be packet flooding as well. Do you browse packet traffic to see which players are high on the list and deal with them, wait for other players to report them, or do you just happen to stumble upon them?Derrick wrote:The character was kicked for packet flooding. This was certainly a judgement call, but most those actions that you were referring to do have an action delay of at least one second, and musicianship is only about a 10 byte packet. The speed at which this speech was being spammed was orders of magnitude greater. There should be a flood detector on speech, but there currently is not. Drawing attention to this issue prolly wasn't a good idea, so I'll likely have to get on a server side speech throttle right away.hiicha wrote:Quick question in regards to this; players who macro herding, musicianship, or snooping without delay would technically be packet flooding as well. Why don't you go back to that other shard that you were applying to be a GM on?

if you were smart enough to pick up on the history of that application, you would realize that it was a FAKE application and was complete satire. of course though, you failed to pick up on that. try not to comment on things that you know very little about.
the brief history is that, a particular shard was allowing players to have GM characters AND play on the shard with normal characters at the same time. I figured this opened the door for MASSIVE abuse, and advocated against it from day 1. I posted 3 other fake GM applications, all of which got deleted. The last one, while not obviously fake, I did state in the application "i do not believe that players should be allowed to have a GM Characters"
I was a known player, advocating against GM/player positions, applying for a GM position. Do you see the irony in it? It was a fake application to advocate a new rule that players shouldn't be allowed to also be GMs.
All that i stated above was fact. It's known that policies are made on the fly here. I'm not saying that it's WRONG to create new policies instantaneously, however, a GM explicitly told me that there were only certain areas where spamming was not allowed, and this was in high population areas such as brit bank. The boat spamming was MUCH less than that of the vesper spamming, and the vesper spamming was to a much higher degree. I didnt degrade anyone in my post, I just stated facts, and facts alone. If you don't like it, gfto, thanks.
