So they hold an event, appease the staff, and go on getting to have their hideous sprawling addons for another year?

Addons shouldn't be tied to holding events, they should be only placed where people naturally gather in numbers. If a guild were to make a popular vendor town, hold events there, and sustain a population completely on their own I wouldn't see anything wrong with sprucing it up with some GM addons.

But some guild holding an event, managing to corral some people into attending it, and then having it go back to being a private guild area that nobody cares about until the guild schedules something there and offers something to entice people into showing up, is ridiculous.

Most of these towns are even just filled with private buildings with locked doors, no vendors, nothing of value to the playerbase as a whole.

I never saw anything like it on OSI. I saw a FEW buildings, with GM placed decorations on/around the specific buildings. I never saw custom roads which are all over the place here, and exterior walls between buildings like are North of Minoc.

And really none of these add any value to the shard as a whole. They only benefit the privileged people who get these addons and custom roads given to them.

Theres no GM items close to my place.

$$$ - Deserving
T-G?(West of the brit x-roads) - Deserving, I Get attacked almost everytime I go through
URK - Deserving tons of orcs
K^A - they don't do much
mYm - Deserving They do that hedge maze thingy every so often
Blackfoots Museum - Fits, Hes the historian of the Shard
ACE?(north of trinny) - They have some Items but I dont see them doing much I could be wrong though.

I don't think its at all over done with too many add ons, most of them are doing things!

Where else has them?

T-B and PEE had them but they're decaying (being deleted) And tbh K^A should just have them removed, it's not about hosting events n stuff mym does them because theyre fun for us as well.

We should stop adding roads unles they can make them look better.

Some of the roads look bad, there's other ad-ons that can be used instead.

Digging this up once again because KA has split in two (note new guild WL all over KA town).

We really need definitive regulations on town add-ons, especially for inactive guilds!
It is true, KA has split, but WL and KA are not on friendly terms. 99% of WL is ex-K^A members that left after Mapo took over as gm again.

Holy tears! Who effing cares.

So tell me son, as the person who demands the addon's go away- what have you done for the server that makes you qualified to be the grand vizier of haters?

When a guild earns em, let em keep em. When a guild dissolves, take em away. Seems pretty obvious... as has been stated about 400 times in this thread.

What? The reason you never saw them was because you hardly ever looked. Atlantic had tons of GM endowed items.

Overall I think the GM created towns look much better than continuous wilderness between two points.

Or do you prefer the warehouse style housing that most shards have? Looks much worse imo. i.e Ice island.

I am not the one with the addons, nor do I require them. Please try again :)

Just to get this thread to go away, i have a suggestion. Lets make a giant pvp event where the whole shard battles in the Ascalon town for the existence of its addons! Setup 2 guildstones:Red for anti addons and Blue for Pro(no pun intended) addons. After a set time(1hour?) the side with the most opposing heads wins. I'd also suggest that, if the anti's win, part of the town area be left , delapitated, with a sign that reads something like "remnants of the once powerful Kingdom of Ascalon" and if the Pro's win the head of whoever started this unending thread should be placed on a pike in the middle of Ascalon maybe with a sign that reads "IM SO FRUSTRATED"...

Still my main point is, they are not necessary.

Why can't people build their own addons on the houses in their town, and why do they need prettying addons like roads and fountains?

All this argument could be avoided and the shard would look less GM customized and more player active.

Oh I don't pretend to assume that at all, nor do I think you are particularly incorrect. I honestly very rarely see K^A yet I also rarely leave the guard zone as I just recently had time to start working on my Dexxer/treasure hunter/pvp template characters.

However! I also hardly ever see $$$ or cA around britain either, so its a hard thing to judge when it comes to activity. I just don't think you have any reason to judge them as harshly as you are as I haven't seen good evidence posted that they are any less active than anyone else other than the very few people who have spoken in their defense here. If we're going to judge it on activity, then POO deserves a megamall, since those guys seem to be everywhere despite being fairly unpopular.

Though I will say this, there are many compelling arguments for taking them away here- best of which being people that actually know the situation with that guild in particular and why exactly they became so inactive.

So I repeat, if the guild is not the same guild that earned the items then take em away. Otherwise let them be and find some use for them.

Anyone been to turtle bay recently? That place is completely abandoned.

So after the 4th can we get some of these things removed? The poll is overwhelming.
