taking away something players enjoyed?
Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
Clearly not. There is a separate ruleset for mini games inside Brit. This ruleset is not the same rule set as trammel.Iced Earth wrote:Blackfoot the comparison of super restrictive ruleset Events and super restrictive Trammel ruleset as to who can attack who, what can happen when, and no fear of losing any of your stuff is very much ON the mark.
The bagball ruleset is exactly a preemptive rule set that would be happening if it ran inside a players house. Except the game forces bag drops and resets that players cannot do on their own.
The large scale event with minax last night had a separate ruleset not that of normal game play and you don't hear people crying trammel 24/7.
Odd that the same people in this thread were at that event not crying trammel but enjoying it.
If all we have to do to make it ok is add an rp element that is pretty easy to do.
More bagball.

<IronfistMax> tell me where you are in game, and ill come thank you personally

RPV or it cant happen!Pro wrote:you can attack people in the bag ball arena btw

This is the assumption im operating under and i think all those crying "Trammel" wonder why if they did it back then that it cant be done now.bismuth wrote:Didn't bagball originate on OSI with players who did it without artificially restricted rulesets and simply using game mechanics?
I have nothing against a nice game of bagball in the custom field except that i feel left out of the bagball scene. With only 4 or so dominant teams beating up on the rest of the shards randoms, your basically asking for your own slice of Trammel* for 20 people or so to play with themselves. Like i said i personally dont have an axe to grind against the bagballers but you need a way to make it more inclusive if you want more support.
Id like to see a way of making the bagball field always open so if at anytime 10 people(or however many people play at a time) sign up a game could start.
Also why not just make the field a guard zone and not completely restricted ruleset?
Last and most importantly can we get a consensus on the use of Macros or Easy Uo Scripts in bagball? Im going on Hearsay only but it seems to me that Bagball has an Easy-UO problem like baseball has a steroid problem.

Are you kidding me? When there is finally a legitimate event, that could at least compare to something remotely era-accurate, you compare it to RunUO-scripted automated bagball that takes place in a tiny inaccessable room free from internal pvp/interaction and external interference.BlackFoot wrote: The large scale event with minax last night had a separate ruleset not that of normal game play and you don't hear people crying trammel 24/7.

everyone knows the word 'trammel' is considered a derogatory term when applied to anything UO. So when you don't like something, instead of arguing any good point just say the word 'trammel' and now I have bashed it and made a great point!
Seriously, you are inside your house I cant directly interact with you! you are in trammel! wtf

The big difference is, if you are inside your house, there is a chance that I can get in as well. That's a poor analogy. Sure, "Trammel" may be used out of context, but that is not the point. You know exactly what they meant when they said that.Izual wrote:BlackFoot wrote:so when i lock the doors to a castle or keep it is now trammel...

Oh well...
the event haters are often forgetting about the fact that after an "old event" - before the trophies were removed from ctf etc. - people were having group fights in buccs. The event just was like a warm-up!
This doesn't appear like game destroying to me if anything it encouraged people who aren't into pvp to participate and try to "gank the red" with their buddies
Then trophies were removed and only a few continued to participate at events. I did so until i realized that this is a great waste of time and i could have easily farmed millions of gps instead doing events that dont even have a prize with a low number of participants.
After the patch including the removal of trophies for ctf, dd etc. there definetly was a player decrease and took place over several weeks. A lot of players argued for and against this change but fact was, the player count dropped!
Finally, after having the shard stagnate for about 6 months the silver coins were implemented and events got more attention although it wasnt the amount they had before - but enjoyable again.
At this point i would like to ask the people that claim as an argument that if there were no silver there would be noone attending one single event if they would ever go out farm one single balron if the corpse was empty? Of course people need some form of reward to do this, they are investing their time and at least want the chance to earn something. This applies to the automated events same like to any other playerheld event.
Same situation today and i cant help myself but i think i've already met some of the event haters in this thread at tourneys and events i took part.
The current status of events is horrible. No new player will get the chance to earn any reward and dont underestimate the power of rares. Majority of the people will like rares, like someone already posted before in one of the numerous old threads regarding events / trophies "people love to collect junk"
Please don't make the mistake and say those people only logging in for events ruining the gameplay theres simply no reason for this.
Another point i would like to say is that these whole topics (events/trophies/trophie-system) lare living in symbiosis with each other. With the time the silver price will climb and climb and the complete trophie-turn-in system will be senseless because no player will invest years of playing, farming and hoarding for his personal bless deed.
As i first played an event and luckily won a trophie for ctf (makes me really sad talking about the good old days..) i didn't want to sell it - i first looked what they were good for and decided to collect this stuff because it gives players some kind of long time goal to achieve and binds players to this shard - please dont ruin that.
Let me give you for example a quick shot on my recent event statistic - there simply is none! As a european i dont have the time to get up at 3 o'clock in the morning for participating in special events held by staff or for the majority of automated events. So i am really glad about the chance to play in a large group of players you dont see here and there at fixed times during a week.
Wharf CTF on tuesdays and DD on sundays are the two times i really wanted to log in and sign up but it was never the case that i logged in ONLY for this few minutes.
Now, Wharf CTF has been removed and i was spending my time posting here on sunday during the only attendable event for me. But okay i can see loving events is something very evil and the shard don't need players THAT LOG IN FOR FUN.
I for my part think the shard never needed complainers and whiners and those are the people that wont be missed. Thumbs up for another patch in the face of the playerbase...

Why is it that it's alway the small group of people who complain and it ruins the fun for the majority of others? All it takes is a few people to whine and complain about something they don't like and just like that...removed.
I dont give two shits what anyone says...when we had a lot of events, yes a lot of people were logging on for them, but there was ALWAYS action in bucs den afterwards and it usually led to more fighting. Take away the events and what happens? The people who logged on for the events and participated in the action afterwards don't bother logging on anymore. Now, people dont have a reason to log on at a certain time so everyone just gets on at random times. As a result, when people log on at different times, dont find any action, they log off. At least when they knew there was an event it would cause a large group of people to all log on at the same time, and ultimately led to more action.
As it is now i log on at random times hoping to find something going on, but when i dont find anything i get bored and log off. And i know that's the same case for a LOT of other players as well. This game is old, the players who know about it and play it are older, and we have things we have to do irl...we dont have time to sit around for hours waiting for something to happen.

If people don't log on because events because of well. I'd rather deal with whatver population that plays than to log on during events times for a 5 minute after-event bucs fight.
The fact is everyone's opinion is biased.
You and your guild are mostly event players, do it's no wonder you'll say "you ruin it for the majority". What's funny is event players are a minority as are pvpers.
And field pvpers are numerous enough for me to find fights, you just gotta stop being lazy and get the trammel mindset outta your head. This game isn't about instant gratification. Go look for a fight, enjoy the journey UO was never about the destination.
Tournaments and events are lame, they are trammel. You can't argue that, lol. It's in trammel, don't you get it?
TRAMMEL. If they allow me to attack you and Sandro while you guys 2v2 then I'll be all for events. Until then I am glad the events are being cleaned up so all the carebears gotta come out for some real UO pvp.
Re: taking away something players enjoyed?
When we come out to fight for 'real pvp' all you guys just recall or run 50 screens anyways.
You act like we join events because we dont field. We field, but nobody will field us unless its 6+v2.
get real
