that poll has been framed incorrectly.
there is no difference in the action of appling poison to a blade and poisoning someone
to casting the spell and poisoning some1
there is a difference when some1 hands you a poisoned blade and they you poison some1
but i guess you choose not to see that.
and frame a poll that specifically protects a class.
this poll below does not protect either side of the argument.
its either win win or lose lose.
i dont care either way.

the principle is the same.
casting poison
-press poison spell hotkey
-consumes reagents
-time elapses as spell charges
-spell is precast and waiting to drop
-releases spell by targeting opponent
appling poison
-press poison skill hotkey
-consumes reagents (poison potion)
-time elapses as poison charges
-blade is precast and waiting to drop
-releases poison my targeting opponent
do you see the pattern now?

You forgot to mention that the poison spell also consumes 9 mana and can be resisted unlike the poison skill. Also, the poison skill can do 10x more damage than the poison spell. The precast arguement isn't a very good arguement, because a person can still precast their spells with the poisoned weapon. A mage on the other hand has to keep the target up and cancel if they have to heal or cast a damage spell.

what is mana???
its just a way of measuring time. that is all
been able to apply the poison also does a check that is relative to your skill.
sometimes poison from blades stick
sometimes it doesnt
sometimes poison from spell sticks
sometimes it doesnt
another pattern...
NO ONE IS ASKING FOR DP.
a mage has to keep the target up/ a dexxer has to get close
its the same. and with all those target hotkeys that is redundant... as you cast the spell you just que your target.
its just a slightly different form of targeting...
magery does have range remember!!!!
and i am glade you recognized how a weapon can be precast...but this isnt specifically about precasting blades its the whole shebang. the whole process of poison. not just running around with a poisoned blade.
anyway how does any of this prove my statement wrong. bah what ever. it parallels magery in every way yet you choose to ignore it.
you choose to live in a black and white world. and think there is some line that separates them. when there isnt.

He has a point. With the poison skill you gotta be point blank. With the poison spell you got range. The poison skill also has a chance to poison yourself.
His point is they are basically the same....if you don't see that then you are just purposely being pig headed.

you are trapped in a tiny box , so this is a non issue
keep thinkin
and the poison skill at a decetn level has 0 chance of poisoning yourself

venox,
You are failing to look at this in a coding perspective. Doing constructs for special cases is not going to happen. The tournament system is set on a boolean interface, meaning True or False values. An example of this is "allow potions" true or false, "allow magic" true or false, "allow poisoning" true or false, or "allow magic weapons" true or false etc... If you go into the area of having to wipe poisons, adjust levels of poisons, or any of that other garbage it gets ridiculous. Derrick has already made a comment on this subject matter...

I don't think he's necessarily trying to argue that it should be added to tournaments anymore. It seems now more trying to get blackfoot to admit their are similarities...which is just as nearly impossible since blackfoot will never give

cause the only similarity is it can stop a dexxer from gettin a full heal if he doesnt know how to play
other than that nada

Poison being resisted... well you know poison doesnt go off everytime, i've hit mobs 5-6 times without it going off, and with a 50 50 chance that could be 12+ seconds in pvp. It also doesn't have indefinite charges
Still think its funny people argue its a crafting skill, even derrick lol... the title "Assassin" sure sounds like a crafter.
