Not having a tighter housing limit imposed has nothing to do with people not caring about noobs. Everyone seems to forget this server has a single solid goal, complete in game T2A accuracy, so posting whine threads about game mechanics you want changed to be un-accurate is absolutely pointless, so stop being so ignorant as to believe this is an attack on new players by older players. Its just the way this game works.

I agree with Bio, if anyone starts a topic, its blown out of proportion. I simply started this thread with "Reducing houses per player would allow more room for new players, thus making the shard more appealing to others, growing the shard, and I also thought it was era accurate"

Simple "Here is the link stating the eras stance on housing" would have set that topic straight, and and comments back and forth as to what would help and not help the shard could be discussed. However it turns into a pissing match, with people claiming others are whining.

My "attack" on Blackfoot was not even an attack, It was an observation. He made a claim that he used his houses NOT FOR PROFIT, but to "help" new players, and I simply stated that I have never once witnessed this, and I been playing since 2008 too.

If Blackfoot felt so threatened by that comment, then perhaps there is truth behind my statments. I know Blackfoot does a lot for this shard, he is a honest and trusting player, shit he even brokered my 3 million gold deal when I sold my keep. I have no problems with Blackfoot. But NO ONE has a valid reason for needing 15 houses - nuff said!

As far as this being just another "one of these" posts, well perhaps I am not the only player who feels this way about this topic. I bet if you look back at ALL the topics regarding the housing issue, they will ALL be started by different players, and ALL be argued or ripped apart by the same players. Which tells you what? Majority would like the change, and the FEW want it to stay. The shitty thing is, the few probably get there way on this one.

All are used to live in or help new players
I earned those houses fair and square!

It took me about 30 seconds to find a place for my tower. I just ran outside of Brit a little way and BAM! Although someone else showed up to take it between the time I found it and went to get my deed, but I still got the spot.

I still think that 15 houses is way more than any player could need. I don't see why 3 would not be enough for anyone. Then again, our system is so engrained into the way we do things and the houses that already exist that it would be very difficult to resolve at this point.

Once again, I never claimed that there is NO SPOTS left. I placed a tower, and sold it after I started this discussion. I see 100's of places for small houses. But it still does not mean that 200 active players needs to take up 3000 house plots. What is so wrong with a cut back in housing?

Your a moron. Every single "change" that has ever happend in ANY game has happend AFTER the opening of the game. Thus, Yes some players will have to be affected.

When OSI changed it, they made players pick which house they wanted to keep. They simply made it so that the first house you refreshed on each character was the house that was it. Every other one would "decay" without being able to be refreshed unless sold to another player who had house room, or was deeded. So yeah I Guess that is what I am asking.

And NO, this is not an issue that needed to be addressed before the start of the shard. In my opinion "newbie deeds, keys, runebooks etc are items that should have been newbied at the start of the shard, yet they were able to be changed!?! WHY? We now have a situation that can go bad for the shard (not players) but the shard, and so it should be addressed. You think that because a HANDFULL (possibly only Blackfoot) of players who have more then 5 houses is a GOOD reason to NOT change a rule? This topic is rediculous because its the same morons who are trying to keep it as is!

Look, this is not era accurate and that should make this suggestion fail on start.

I just lost 11 houses! (I still have 4 thank god... only a keep, a patio, a big brick and tower.)

I lost many many homes in prime locations because of something with the refresh timer.

Oh well, that's my bad. But you know what? In about 4 months I'll have 15 houses again. In 8 months I'll have houses at 15 prime locations again and that's just the way the game is played.

If you want houses, just wait. Don't get all sour grapes because the fact is, 4 houses isn't enough. I WANT MOAR!!!

Just to interject some information, when OSI went to the one house per account per shard rule, all houses on accounts from before the rule were grandfathered on to the account. This was also true when they went to the one house per account regardless of shard some time during AoS.

Secondly, one house per character is considered an era accurate feature, and we won't be changing that stance in the future.

Finally, while I do understand the grievances that players have with housing on the server (15 houses among 3 free accounts), we need to keep things in perspective. If we take a look at the results from last Halloween's Trick or Treat contest, we can get a rough idea of how many houses are on the server (lets just say 2000 for a round number). Out of those 2000 houses, lets assume that all of them are distributed in such a way that each player has 15 houses, we would see that a mere 134 (133.33... to be exact) different people would own houses. However, if we check this against the server status in IRC as of this post we can see this:

Server: RunUO 2.0 Creatures: 92325 Items: 3750828 Guilds: 730 Clients Online: 615 IP's: 362

From our current IRC status, we can see that the unique IP count is much higher than the originally associated number. If we use our original 2000 housing estimation with the current number of unique IP's on UOSA, we can see that we have roughly 5 houses per person. Of course, this also makes the assumption that the people who are playing on UOSA at this very moment are the only people who ever play on UOSA at all. If we remove that assumption, and make a very conservative estimate of a total of 500 unique IPs that connect to UOSA on a regular basis, then each person only owns 4 houses (this is undercutting our numbers quite a lot considering the number of black dye tubs given out during Easter 2009). Given only a few very conservative estimates, we can really see that the housing problem really isn't that much of a problem at all.
